Roller Coaster Day…
I"ve gone from highs to lows today… It’s been a crazy one…
I got up this morning not feeling like going in to work but I did. I treated myself to a bacon and Spinach soufle at Panera and that put me in a pretty good mood. I got to work thinking that there might be a possibility of going home early so I could go out to my friend’s house for her summer fiesta (as her daughter called it). It lifted even more when I made a huge sale right off and the fact I got out of the dreaded cycle counts all together.
Barb came in a little before ten so I thought I would ask her about covering an hour and as I asked her Sandra came up and said "Barb is NOT taking any more hours this week" and her tone was completely inappropriate for the sales floor. I can’t help that Carol broke her wrist and I can not help the fact that Shirley had to have her hours covered for her Grandson’s graduation. I am only human and I didn’t know this was the situation; usually we are all scrambling for hours. It kind of irritated me that Sandra got involved; a no from Barb would have been one thing… but Sandra’s attitude put me in a sour mood.
Daniel came in and put me in a better mood; he brought me two bicentennial quarters and a Gettysburg that he found over the week. As much as he frustrates me he has a nice streak to him too.
Vicki and I were working the same number of hours… guess who didn’t get a break and who didn’t. That wouldn’t have been a big deal but it kind of ticked me off since neither of them was staying on the sales floor steadily… that back door was constantly opening and closing. I didn’t even take a drink until after two. On a six hour shift when it is sporadically busy I tend to skip breaks and I guess I just expect too much of other people at my level to do the same.
Three rolled around and I finally got to leave. I took home funny sunglasses for all of the little girls who were going to be at the party, I got out to my truck that was parked at the motel like a good little Sunday employee and I turned on my phone so I could check my messages… they took forever to come up so I assumed i didn’t have any then as I was pulling into the drive the started to pop. I got to the light and saw the following _________’s Status. "Please keep my family in your prayers, my dad passed yesterday. I love you daddy!" I was kind of shocked. I don’t have all the details but I know some of the options. As soon as I got to Walmart I texted her instead of immediately replying to her post. Some posts you just have to post to from home.
I got the girls and I some new clothes for the party since I didn’t trust Hannah to have our stuff ready as well as a new beach towel each. I came home and changed and checked for the address of the party and headed out with the girls; a half hour later than I intended, but some news has to sink in before going on a long drive (well not long but you get my drift).
We got to the party in near record time despite a short detour and my GPS yelling at me most of the trip up because I refused to use the Highway. We all had a blast at the party and then some of us went out for dinner at Applebees which was amazing and the kids were all so well behaved. It was a nice dinner with adults and kids both.
Then I came home to find that Maya had messed up the entire inside of her crate. UGH do I need to mention that I had Hannah take it outside to clean out? She also managed to slip her collar and get that in the mess. So whlie Hannah was doing that I decided to take her ouside for a few minutes and she got to see Charlie for a few minutes before his kids started to attack him. He actually escaped Irene’s grasp and tried to take off into the depths of the neighborhood but I managed to snag him one handed adn the little snot bit me. It was not his fault; I kind of got him by the back of the butt and I called Marshall to come over and get him from me. He didn’t draw any blood or anything thankfully but he was very ticked at me.
Maya is settling in very well… she has become very brave when it comes to exploring the livingroom and diningroom. She found the mirror and is infatuated with it at the moment. Holding both she and Charlie tonight made me realize how petite she is compared to him.
I am sorry for your friend. What a …. well you can guess when Sandra acted that way. Maya will probably be a lot smaller than Charlie. Hercules is HUGE! even compared to his brother. I didn’t know boy cats can get so big.
