Olymic Torch goes through Hereford
We went to Hereford this morning to see the Olympic Torch go by. The town was packed; little girls in blue check school dresses sitting on the pavements, ladies all dressed up in red white and blue with Union Jacks painted on their cheeks; dads with toddlers on their shoulders. We all waited excitedly. Then the first vehicles came in sight, a swarm of police motorbikes. They were followed by several vehicles belonging to various sponsors, until finally we knew the torch was at the top of the street from the cheers from the crowd.
I had my camera ready, as did everyone else. I held it above the crowds and pressed the wrong button. Instead of taking a photo I had turned it off! but I kept my head and got it back on in time for a second shot. Then we walked back to the car park surrounded by dozens of little kids with their flags and hooters. I guess theese will be safely put away by their mums as they will be needed again in just over 2 weeks for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
