Whatever happened to global waming?
Well, here we go again. The countryside is covered with a white blanket and it all looks very pretty and Chrismassy, but we can’t get the car up the lane and the ground is like ice. I don’t think I’m going to be able to get to my voluntary job tomorrow evening. I wanted to go before Christmas as I haven’t been for ages with one thing and another.
We had a few days of milder weather. They were calling it a mild snap on the weather forcast, like bitterly cold is the norm now! I couldn’t get much done because I caught a really bad cold which brought on several migraines so I was still stuck in the house.
I still have to get presents for the boys. It will have to be Amazon or Ebay and crossed fingers that they get here in time. Hubby wanted a Bob Dylan songbook and a harmonica so no prizes for guessing what he will be doing when we next perform at the accoustic club! That’s another place I haven’t been to for some time. Hubby had an operation on his wrist in October and I can’t drive if I’ve taken medication, then just when he was recovering and driving again the snow came!
We finally got a Chritmas tree. They wanted £14 for a 4 foot one in town. It seems they haven’t been able to get to the mountains to cut them down so the price has rocketed. Hubby managed to get one with a root on Thursday but has been too busy to put it in a bigger pot and now we can’t get to the soil!
I’ve been reading a really interesting book. It’s called Nella Last’s War and is the diary of an ordinary woman as she goes through the second world war. Coincidentally I’m at the part where they have the worst winter for 45 years. It’s fascinating to read of her difficulties. They had no running water as the pipes had frozen and they were melting snow. I remember doing that in the winter of 1981. It puts things in proportion really.
Oh dear. I looks like every way you turn you hit a snag. I hope you have a Happy christmas and a much better 2011.
