Going to Melbourne.

We’re leaving about lunch time and meeting up with Melissa and Evan for a meal tonight. The weather should be good at least until tomorrow, then who knows. The forecast is rain from Saturday, so I’ve had to pack winter and summer gear. Typical Melbourne weather!
I’m looking forward to my nice long weekend off. No work until Tuesday. We are staying at a North Melbourne motel for 3 nights then 1 night at Evan’s backpacker’s hostel.
2 exhibitions to see. One on Friday night and one on Sunday morning. And in between, we have South Pacific on Saturday afternoon.
All this is for our 40th anniversary which is on Sunday. I can remember going to my in-laws 40th and now we’ve reached that milestone. The years have flown by.
When we set our wedding date in 1972, I made it for the week after the football Grand Final in Melbourne. It’s always held on the last Saturday in September. But as luck would have it, there was a draw in one of the lead up games, and our wedding day was also Grand Final day. My brother Ian had tickets for the game and couldn’t use them. I seem to remember him listening to the game on the radio during the reception, which was held in our house. His team wasn’t even playing. Our team was though, and they won the game. Those were the days when they WERE The Mighty Blues!
My mum did all the catering, and did a wonderful job. I wonder if I told her that?
I hope I remember to take some photos. I always take my camera but sometimes I’m home before I realise it never left my handbag!
Well time I got moving. I can’t wait to see Melissa and Evan again.

Bye……..

Oh, it sounds a lovely trip! Enjoy! RYN: I’ll order some to be shipped down. Not a biggie. I’m just irritated with the son who couldn’t be bothered to deliver my lobsters.
