Travel plans and University.
Melissa has decided to go to university. It’s been thought about for a while, among some other plans. But finally going to Uni won out. She is hopefully going to be accepted for an International Aid & Development course in West Australia. But first, as she didn’t complete VCE which are years 11 & 12, she has to do a 3 month catch-up course. Excitement all around as Luka has been telling her she needs to go to Uni.
Although she’s doing well as a travel agent, really it doesn’t lead to anything further. And with people doing their own bookings over the net, she doesn’t see much future in it.
As she has always wanted to help people in some way, this course appealed to her. I think she just had to get the travel bug out of her system first!
Luka’s plans include a 3 month Europe trip next Jan/Feb. Apart from visiting his family, I don’t know what he has planned. But when he gets back to Australia he’s hoping to get a job in the snow fields for winter. Then he joins Melissa in West Australia. The 6 months apart gives Melissa plenty of time to start her course and get used to studying again.
Our plans meanwhile are a trip to New Zealand in mid November, then a holiday in Scotland sometime in May. But before Scotland, we will visit Poland to meet Luka’s family. Luka will be there at the same time and can translate for us.
I told his mum on Facebook last night and she was so excited. Luka’s grandmother had just been saying she hoped she lived long enough to meet us, so she’ll get her wish. Thank goodness for Google Translate, as I don’t speak Polish!
Melissa says Warsaw is lovely so we’re looking forward to it all. And as Warsaw isn’t too far from Prague, who knows, we may even get there.
But before then we have a trip to Melbourne in 2 weeks to celebrate our 40th anniversary. Melissa is staying one night in the motel with us. Next day we all meet Evan for a saunter around Melbourne’s back lanes. Evan usually leads a tour each Friday from the backpacker’s hostel and the photos they post online always look interesting.
So we have lots of great things coming our way. We just have to save extra hard. We’ll hopefully meet next year Orange Sorbet!
Bye……………
It sounds as though you have some fun times planned. I hope Melissa enjoys her course. A niece of mine did the same sort of thing, but having done a prac sort of bit overseas decided that the aid part of international was not for her at all. She completed the course, but hasn’t done much with it yet.
