A sad anniversary.

Today is the 1st anniversary of my son Evan’s girlfriend’s death. Hard to believe a year has gone by. I do wonder how her mum in the US is coping, losing her only child. And now she’s fighting cancer. I left her a note on Facebook as I haven’t seen her online in a while.
I have been going to Tai Chi the last few weeks. I manage to do it ok except for balancing on one leg. That really is my downfall, and I thought I had good balance. However, I’ve been told I will get better. I must say I’m enjoying it and even though it involves slow movements, they take more out of me than I thought they would.
I’ve also been trying to improve my balance using the Wii Fitness game. Not much success there either, but I can improve hopefully.
Husband and I played baseball, golf, snowboarding and bowling on the Wii too. I must have got too enthusiastic on the bowling though, as I ended up with a sore hip. Mind you, I did beat him.lol
Today’s weather is yuk and dreary. But being Autumn I can’t expect any different. It just seems a bit colder for this time of year. Winter isn’t official until June. Melbourne is expecting a month’s worth of rain sometime in the next 24 hours, and I wonder if we’ll get the same. I hope not as we can only take so much then the front and backyards flood.
I’ve not lost much weight lately, even though my clothes are slightly too big for me again. So I’m losing inches but not weight. Funnily enough, this last week I’ve had so many people comment on the weight loss for the first time. One girl even asked if I was ok healthwise, which was nice of her. I assured her I wasn’t ill but had been on a diet. I think what’s caused people to notice is the fact my face has thinned down too, which I didn’t really want, as it has made the skin a big saggy looking. I could have done without that!
We’re planning a visit to Sydney at the end of the month for 3 days. Just to catch up with Melissa on her days off and have a break from work. Then husband is going to Melbourne mid July for a day or so to see the football with Evan and maybe see a movie or whatever. Too cold to do anything else. At least the football seats are undercover, and maybe the roof will be closed too.
I was thinking I may go down at the same time and see my aunt, who is still unwell. Also to catch up with my girlfriends. My cousins aren’t keeping me informed how my aunt is doing. I get my SIL Georgina to call and ask then she tells me how things are. Not a good way for a family to communicate.
I also told my other SIL Dorothy how things are with my aunt, but didn’t tell my brother Ian, as I don’t even know if he remembers her now, but if he does and went to visit her, how would my aunt react to how he is. It would upset her to find out he has dementia. I told Dorothy I would just keep her informed and not Ian.
My girlfriend Betty’s daughter-in-law is expecting late May/early June. Her first baby which she didn’t think would ever happen, because of health problems. She’s such a tiny little thing, and seeing her pregnant, she’s all belly! Her husband is quite tall so I wonder who the baby will take after.
Well the rain is pouring down now. We had a lot yesterday too, so the ground will be swamped soon. And today is only going to be 10C, which is cold here. But there’s no wind, thank goodness.
One of my OD friends, FredOtter, passed away last week. I’ll miss him and his entries.
OK even though it’s pouring, I still have to work. Not looking forward to going out the door. I am not a fan of cold weather.

Bye……..

Bad weather seems to have a way with showing up around grim anniversaries and occasions. ryn: Hey, I live in Kansas. I have to be able to laugh, or I will be just consumed by all the conservatism.

It doesn’t seem like a year since Evan’s girlfriend died. Very sad. Fred’s wife Patrisha is one of my faves.

Thank you for your note. I enjoyed your entry. And Like Shiek 2002 I live in Kansas but I’m one of the conservative people he’s doesn’t want to be consumed by. I think it is the age difference. I have randomly read a few of FredOtter’s entries and he will be missed by many.

Great ultrasound scans. So detailed. RYN: Is that the one in Culduthel Road – the student hostel? It’s not far from Mum’s flat (Charles Street) and every time I pass it I think of you because I remember you mentioning it in your diary! Small world eh?

I use the WII sports often. I do many different exercises such as Basic Step, Obstacle Course, Juggling etc. I hope it is “good” exercise. I do it for at least half an hour.

I was married for 15 years before I was able to carry a baby to term..I never thought I’d have one..but at 34..I had a healthy baby. My husband is 6’3 and I’m 5’5. My daughter is only 3..but she’s tall for her age and has LONG LEGS just like her dad..instead of my short stubby ones! lol So, I think she’s going to be a tall one..lol
