Why do we have to have bugs?
I know, I know. Insects are part of life. They all have their little bit to do. But we’ve had ants in the bedroom which I managed to get rid of. That was just before we left for our Christmas break and I’m thankful I spied them on my bedside table before we left. They were only very tiny but I can imagine they would have taken over the house while we were away for 4 days.
Then we had little black things that looked like earwigs but they can fly. Like the ants they are mostly in the bedroom where they delight in being on my bed. And they are almost impossible to kill. It takes a wardance on top of them before they die. I hadn’t ever seen them before but husband said there were always plenty at his workplace.
Next we’ve had crickets, managing to get in under the front door somehow and making themselves at home in our house. As we had the outside area sprayed for insects, the crickets outside are lying dead in the patio and under the carport, but the ones in the house are still alive. However, they aren’t able to jump thank goodness or I would be continually screaming. All I need now is a plague of moths.
I’m hoping we’ve seen the last of them all as the weather has cooled a bit and there aren’t as many to clean up outside each morning. Yuk!
Yesterday, even though it was cooler, I managed to get badly sunburnt on my face. You would think after so many years I would learn to not stand in the sun gabbing with people we meet in town. I must have been facing into the sun but wasn’t aware of it. Although it was windy so it probably is windburn. By late afternoon my face was like a beetroot. It’s not quite as bad this morning, but I’ll have to cover it up before I venture out the door. My nose looks like Rudolph’s.
This morning while husband was out walking the dogs, I spent ages trying to find what sounded like a young bird cheeping in the house, or just outside somewhere. I hunted high and low before realising it was the fire alarm in the spare room warning us to check the battery.
Had to have the car’s ignition barrel replaced yesterday as it was sometimes refusing to turn on. It cost $350! But we couldn’t take a chance on being stranded somewhere unable to start the car.
I can’t believe January has gone already. Things have calmed down for me at work, and my days aren’t so hectic. Holidaymakers have gone home and schools are back after the summer break.
I went out clothes shopping at the weekend, hoping to find a pair of shorts and some tops. Only to find the shops were stocking their winter ranges already. I did manage to get 1 pair of shorts but not much in the way of tops appealed to me. So I’ll make do with what I have in the meantime.
Visited the doctor yesterday to find my blood pressure was 120/70. I have to see her in 3 months and maybe I can come off them when I lose more weight. Here’s hoping. I’m not too keen on taking pills if I can help it.
OK off to work for me.
Bye……..

BUGS! UGH! For the past few years I have had ants and cockroaches. Nothing I do seems to get rid of them. We have had the condo sprayed and we put out traps etc. to no avail. When I go into the kitchen at night I have a spray can closeby so I can spray the cockroaches. Usually there is one at a time. Last night three!!!!!!!! I HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!

I’m always saying that I’d love to live in a warmer climate, then somebody mentions all of the insects which makes it seem not quite as good! When we were in India we had ants in our room one night and there were literally millions of them! Every space on the floor and walls were covered. It was horrible!

RYN. I think that they probably base the first couple of bills on the size of the house and what the weather is like. If they charge too much they change it to a higher rate, and if not enough their is a refund and they change it to a lower rate. They come to the house every few vweeks to read the meter so that they know exactly how much gas we have used. The same with the electricity.
