Goodbye to the car.

Yesterday we sold our 2nd car. We are now a 1 car family and I wonder how we’ll adapt to that. It means we’ll have to think before just heading out anywhere and leaving the other at home. It was an older car but on gas and petrol so I knew it would sell with petrol prices supposed to be on the rise again. It’s funny to see just one car in the driveway though.
We went shopping today for clothes. Unfortunately I seem to be in the middle of 2 sizes. But it was nice to be trying on jeans and slacks that were 1 or 2 sizes smaller than I have been wearing. Just a pity I couldn’t buy any. But that gives me encouragement to lose more weight. Husband has lost the weight he was carrying around his stomach, and only has a couple of kgs to lose. I’ve got a bit more that that to go.
Melissa left a note on facebook to say “just a little hello message from sun soaked, smiling, colourful India xxx. Having a great time bouncing around in the bus, travelling through villages and fields of rice”. It won’t be long until we meet her at Melbourne airport on the 24th Dec.
Now that all the workmen have left the house I can get back to using my treadmill. I covered it up while they were here because there was so much dust from paint sanding and grouting from the tiles, and I was afraid it would get damaged from it all. But no excuses now. Back onboard tomorrow. Besides I was enjoying listening to my music while I walked each morning.
My music tastes are varied. We always had music playing when I was growing up. My dad liked singers like Richard Tauber and Beniamino Gigli and mum just loved singing. As I got older I also liked Ray Charles, Patsy Cline, Beatles, DC5, Shirley Bassey and Pavarotti. Lots more that I can’t bring to mind. I still have all my mum’s records. When I first got married husband wasn’t too keen on some of my selections, but over the years I’ve often heard him hum along to them. They can be trained!
We had another tremendous thunderstorm last night with strong winds and very heavy rain. I didn’t heard a thing. It woke husband up but I told him it sometimes helps being a bit deaf! I just sleep on my good ear and hear nothing. I didn’t realise I was nearly deaf in one ear until Melissa came along. I could never hear her crying at night and husband would have to waken me up so I could feed her. My dad had the same kind of deafness and so do my 2 brothers. I just hope none of the next generation have it. If I watch a movie or TV show I have to use subtitles to hear what’s being said. Clarity of sound is what I lack and having the tv louder doesn’t help. So even though I have a hearing aid, I don’t always understand what someone is saying unless I can see their mouth moving.
OK time for me to be off. Another working week coming up and only 14 days until Christmas. Now isn’t that a nice thought!

Bye………..

I was the same with clothes. Size 16 was too big and size 14 was too small. I’ve lost a little weight now though, so can get into 14’s again! Glad that Melissa is enjoying India. It is certainly a very colourful land with all the brightly coloured saris!

YAY for smaller sizes!! I don’t drive much, but when I need a car, I want it there.

RYN: She was trying to be helpful, but mostly, she was a pest.

RYN: If it comes back again, I’m calling her and telling her to drive down here and get it herself!
