Remote controls and music.

I mentioned in my last entry about my husband doing magic things with my mobile phone. He also has problems with tv remotes. It was made worse when we had paytv for 6 months and this meant he had 3 remotes to use! I would hear the ominous words “What’s happening here?” or “What have I done here?” and knew he would be swearing at the remote or tv in a few minutes. A few times he had the remote upside down (won’t wear his reading glasses like I ask). At other times he brings up things on the tv screen or gets error messages and I have no idea how he does it. But then neither does he. It makes for lots of laughs.
We’ve both been on a diet for the last 8 weeks and he has tightened his belt 2 notches as his jeans were starting to look like he was a homeboy. I told him he would be showing his underpants if he didn’t hitch them up. But I notice a big difference in his weight which is good for his back pain. He’s lost 6.5kgs.
As for me, I have lost 8 or 9 kgs and gone down a size or two. Can’t buy any new clothes yet though as I have more to lose. But it feels good to know I am losing it.
Luka mum’s Regina, has been leaving me notes on Facebook asking how he and Melissa are as she isn’t hearing from him. What is it with guys who can’t drop a note to their parents, when they are on Facebook and can easily leave a note or send an email? Evan was the same. I would only hear how he was doing when Melissa mentioned him or one of his cousins would tell me she had chatted to him on the net.
Anyway, thanks to Google translate, I can write to her in Polish and when she leaves me notes, I can translate them. It doesn’t always make perfect sense though, but we can get the gist of it. I’ve managed to put her mind at ease but I also messaged Melissa to ask Luka to write to his mum.
Evan messaged me to ask what were his favourite songs when he was young as he has gone back to his singing and is now playing guitar too, so wants to add to his repertoire. He told me he, in his own words, ‘does a mean version of Will you Still Love me Tomorrow’. That is my favourite song from the early 60s. Hearing it just takes me right back to my young teenage years. So I asked him to bring his guitar on Wednesday when we’re in Melbourne and he has to sing it for me.
Anyway I went through all my old records, listing some of the songs he liked, but really he sang to whatever was playing, from Al Jolson when he stayed with my mum, whatever group Melissa was playing in her room and all the music husband and I liked. He also knew every advert on tv that had music and watched RAGE on ABC TV every Saturday morning, singing to whatever was played. Of course, when he was young he didn’t understand the words and was singing phonetically. La Bamba was a big favourite and I loved hearing him sing it when he was about 4. I just wish he would have let me video him, but he never would.
OK enough rambling from me. Have to go get things ready for our trip to Melbourne. I hope it’s not too hot driving there.
It’s 7.30pm and the temperature is still 30 in the house. The air con guy was to come clean and set-up the air con for us, but he probably didn’t expect it to be hot so soon, and he hasn’t been yet. Lucky I have an electric fan and it’s so nice to sit with it blowing on me.

I am the guilty one when it comes to calling and keeping in touch!

I think with boys, you just have to push a bit. They hate to write. Congrats on the weight loss!

RYN: I’d heard some of the same, but this seems to verify his monkey business. Of course, she stayed blind to her own husband’s indiscretions.

RYN: Well, the article said it was a subconscious reaction, so you might not be aware of it. 🙂

RYN: I think I like the term “Remembrance” better.

RYN: LOL! They got the air conditioning duct work in and came back down. 🙂
