Crazy weather.

A few days before Christmas and I have had to turn my heater on in the mornings. There’s snow in the high country too. All the kids on the news last night were making snowmen and having a ball. This is summer?lol
Parts of West Australia had floods after receiving their annual rainfall in 22 hours! What a deluge it must have been.
And Queensland! It seems to have been raining up there for years. What a pity we don’t have the way or means to harvest all the flood water and store it somewhere.
However, when I see the big freeze of Europe, then I think myself lucky. So many people stranded in airports over the world. Not a nice place to be stranded at any time.
Melissa has been overrun in her travel agency with people asking what can be done to help them. I guess most agencies would be the same. She said people were being directed by the airlines to see their travel agent, but there’s nothing that can be done except wait.
The bumper crowd of holidaymakers that were expected to be camping along the Murray River at Christmas may not eventuate, as lots of camping grounds are flooded next to the river. Caravans have been moved from the caravan parks in town, and now reside in the racecourse. Don’t know when they’ll be moved back, but should be soon as the river didn’t flood as high as expected thank goodness.
The only thing good about the cold weather is that the locusts don’t fly around. I was walking back from work a few days ago, and a huge cloud of them flew into my face. I went to flick them away and hit my ear so hard I almost knocked myself out!
Melissa and Luka are heading off to Japan on Wed for a week of snowboarding. I would love to see Japan but can do without the snow.
They get back on 31st Dec and we arrive in Sydney on the 1st. Can’t wait for that. I just hope the weather is a bit warmer but will have to pack for both heat and cold.
Evan will be working over Christmas so we won’t see him until mid January when we go to Melbourne for the Billy Connolly concert. We’ll be staying 2 nights in his backpackers hostel. Then hopefully we can visit some friends before we come back.
Husband’s back problem isn’t as bad as expected and he doesn’t need an operation. The orthopaedic surgeon organised for him to have 2 cortisone injections to the pain site, then after 4 weeks, he meets with the surgeon and an exercise specialist, where he’ll be assessed and given exercises to strengthen his back and hopefully relieve the pain. Well that’s how it should work anyway. Being Christmas it will probably be January before all this takes place. I hope so.
I will be extremely busy at work for the next 2 weeks and may not have the chance to do another entry before 2011 rolls along. So I hope everyone has a very Happy Christmas and for the New Year I wish peace and happiness to people everywhere.
