Going home.
I’m still having treatment for the sore back. I was doing ok until I went back to the gym. Physio said I could as long as I reduced the weights and repetitions I was doing. First time I did it set me right back, with the same nagging back pain again the next day. So after another 2 treatments, I’m getting there, just not going to the gym for a while.
Still have the throat troubles too, but I’m inclined to think it may be a bit of hay fever now as my eyes are itchy too.
We have booked our trip home to UK next May. Both of us have been in Australia since we were 12, but still refer to Scotland as home.lol I have cousins in Abu Dhabi and we’re stopping there for 2 days. Don’t know if they’ll be able to meet up with us, but if not, we’ll just explore the place by ourselves.
Just after we had booked and paid, Melissa said there were fares to New York and LA really cheap because the Aussie dollar is so strong. I would love to visit New York, but we can’t do everything.
Husband is waiting to see a specialist about back fusion. I don’t personally know anyone who’s had it done, but reading up on the net, the people who’ve written about having it done it are really pleased with the results. He also has the option of having the nerve cut so he doesn’t feel the pain. We spoke to a guy in town who has had the nerve cutting procedure, and he said it had lasted for 4 years, then he had it done again, and he was really pleased that the pain had gone. Sounds better than fusion. But we’ll see what the specialists say. Also the insurance company, as they’ll be paying for it.
We’ve had a really wet spring so far, with absolutely thunderous rain. I have a 5 foot shrub in the garden that’s been flattened twice by the rain and is lying flat on the ground in full bloom. Looks and smells lovely but I don’t think I can save it. More severe storms are on the way tonight with strong winds. Not too keen on winds that are over a gentle breeze!
I’ve spent the last 2 weeks watching the Commonwealth Games on TV from Delhi, and pleased to see that Scotland has won some gold. Don’t have to worry about Australia as they do really well for a country with only 22 million population.
Also the last few days I have watched the rescue of the miners in Chile. What a great thing to think of all the people and equipment involved in the rescue. Pity we didn’t all work together like that all the time. My dad and both grandfathers were miners in Scotland, so I felt a small link with the miners in Chile.
Melissa just messaged me to say Luka had scored freebie tickets today to the opening night of Fame in Sydney tonight. As she had no time to get home from work to change, she felt very much under dressed in her bright blue polka dot dress, when all the red carpet celebrities are in slick black dresses and heels.lol I told her to try and get in the background of a photo with a celebrity or get in front of a TV camera. I’ll have to look at tomorrow’s morning TV show from Sydney to see if it’s mentioned. I wonder if they’ll be seated next to anyone famous?
Last week was our 38th wedding anniversary, but neither of us were up to celebrating because of our aches and pains!
Melissa just messaged me again to say the tickets were also to the opening night party after the show. I hope she has her camera.
OK that’s it for now.
Bye………
Hope your aches and pains go away, and I’d like to see you this time when you visit here!

How wonderful it was that the whole world wanted only the best for those men. Good luck with the back problems!

Well, I’ve had 2 men in my roof and neither can see water coming in. Odd. The ceiling’s wet. They say it must be condensation because it’s over the laundry. we’ve no dryer and don’t do that much hot washing. What a nuisance. Hope you have better luck.

I like thinking of you two going home to Scotland. You’ll be looking for changes, but having been only 12 when you went down-under, you probably has limited memories with which to compare. Great that you globe-trotters can look in on your birth place. Bon voyage.

I think you are doing the best thing by resting your back.
