Missing the bayou
It’s been almost a year since my incredible N’Awlins trip and I cannot believe the clarity with which I am still able to remember every little bit of it. All of the jokes and the laughter and the card games and the children at work and the mothers and the funny shopping trips and throwing beads at ceiling fans and St. Patrick’s Day and dancing with Erik and all the nasty guys that hit on us girls and all the drinking and Bourbon Street and walkie talkie trivia and that indescribable bond that we formed and…just every little detail that took place during our magical week together. I am very far from those kids – my beautiful Sconnies and my one California girl ;), but I am never far from them in my heart and mind.
And no one will ever be able to make a PB and J on their pants or sleep on Pop-Tarts as well as Dre did – those were life-altering experiences. 😉
I will never forget this – and I am so glad I have my own personal memories that only the ten of us can share. I never want to let anyone else completely in on what we had.
I am so bursting with love at this moment – it is truly an enlightening thing.
