In my KAZAA fests, I always download songs that I never knew I had until later…in this case, it’s a version of “I Believe” by Blessid Union of Souls. This is one of those mixes from 9-11, where the song is mixed with radio clips. I’ve heard a lot of these since that day, but this one strikes me for one particular reason.
As the song winds down, you hear a woman talking. She is repeating a conversation she had with a friend/family member on one of the hijacked planes. That poor woman on the jet had the sense of mind to get out her cell phone and call her family…I can’t even IMAGINE how it would be to have to do that. I think about how excited I am when Mark calls me on my cell phone…how would it be if someone was calling me to tell me that they were going to die and would never see me again?
I am so amazed, awed, and depressed by that woman’s actions – I cannot help but cry, for her, for her family, and for everyone who died that day.
It’s the smaller picture that really brings it into perspective for me.
