“I had a bug in my mouth, I panicked!”
Work is…work. Despite what I told Mark last night, things are, overall, going well. Today seemed to fly by because I was with the regular experienced crew all day – shootbagging the crossing with Mitch, Kev, Charles, Scott, and Caroline in the morning, then spending the rest of the day in inbred-increase with Donna, Brad, E, Benny, Charles, Caroline, Hazel, and Mitch. We put up a crapload of bags and it took forever because we had to to cut almost every shoot and check for at least 50% pollen. I was pretty happy with the job I did, though, because I only cobbed a few.
I love Donna and Brad – they are really sweet and funny and they don’t think any of the questions I ask about the corn are stupid. I also talked to Brad about the possibility of an internship at the station next summer and he said it’s a good possibility! That excited me.
Benny did a HYSTERICAL seal impression at break with the Mike & Ikes – I thought I would never stop laughing! And Jon, Benny, Donald and I played euchre at lunch – and Benny and I beat Jon and Donald, which is a rare event!
There are parts of this job that really bother me – parts that I really don’t care to put into this. But it’s money, it’s good physical labor, and it’s an outdoor job. I’m content.
And the secret mission today ruled. 😉 Benny and Hazel – 96!!!
