“I’ve seen better days…”

Well, actually, I haven’t. Today was quite a good day. Care to hear more about it? Read on…

After registration, Lindsay, Alex, and I went to Wedge. It was the most unlikely trio. Never the kind that would be planned. I don’t think the situation would ever arise where I would call those two up and say, “Hey, let’s meet for breakfast.” But we ended up having a really, really nice time. Alex was incredibly impressed by my tiny grapefruit juice glass…which led to a discussion of alcohol.

Don’t ask.

Lindsay was nearly forced to eat her pancake (singular, not plural!) with a spoon. And Alex ordered the special only because of the price. 🙂 Kooky.

Took Lindsay home, and we talked. Always nice, but something we rarely get a chance to do.

I went out blading, as usual, but instead of getting on the trail right away, I kept going up my hill, went past Harrison, then got on the trail where it hits Parkview. I went home the normal way, though. It was a nice little variation to my usual routine, and the hill on my street is a GREAT workout.

I then decided to dive into “Wuthering Heights.”

THIS IS THE MOST BORING BOOK IN THE WORLD.

At least the 80 pages I’ve read so far seem to point to that. Whoopee. I kept falling asleep. Around 5, I realized I should get up and get ready. Mom dropped me off at Craig around 6 for band. Mitch, Ben, and I walked in…and recognized, well, virtually no one. Granted, a LOT of the juniors and seniors WERE working and stuff, but still…I just looked blankly around at these people I didn’t know.

Ashley was in charge of the clarinets, but we had to split up, and she planted me in the middle of our half. Easy stuff, but the freshman think it’s harder than hell. That’s the one thing I didn’t do last year. Sure, I was a band freshman, but being an actual junior made me not “freak out” as much. I did want to smack that annoying girl in the sleeveless black sweater, though. Uppity junior…I thought us senior girls (in the clarinet section) were being really nice! And then this girl was being all bitchy to the frosh. Poor things.

D told us to head down to the bowl…as it started to rain. Not TOO badly, but still…we had a lot of whiners! 🙂 So we all ran back to the band room, then we were dismissed. I met Erin (right? I’m so bad with names!), the 3rd little sister. Mitch dropped her off at her house, then we went to Katie’s. She wasn’t back from ballet yet, so we went and bought more Legos. 🙂 Of course. Then back to Katie’s, where Mitch put together his Legos, and Micky came over. She showed us what she’d done with her mesh pack. It’s almost exactly what I’m thinking of doing with mine, very freaky. 🙂 The four of us went to Ben’s a little later. Paul was already there, and Steph, Gruber, and Megs showed up later. I think Alex and Ben are getting back to their old friendship status…at least I hope so. That’d be pretty nice.

Steph, Katie, and I ended up running to Blockbuster to get the DVD of Blair Witch 2, because Katie and I hadn’t seen the end of it yet. The three of us, plus Mitch, were squished onto the couch watching that because Katie NEEDS physical contact during horror movies. 🙂 Silly chicky. After that, just some nice, fun talking and stuff. Then Alex, Megs, Mitch, and I went to Taco Bell. That was nuts. Just nuts. Megs had peanut butter M&Ms, which made the boys hyper. And the lady at the drivethrough asked us if we needed mental help.

*grin* Did she REALLY need to ask?

But I had an absolutely kick ass sensation. “Brick” was playing, I was COMPLETELY relaxed, and we were all just laughing. And I wanted so badly to freeze that moment. It was wonderfully perfect.

We got back to Ben’s and Katie and I ate and talked. We’re having a big, serious talk tomorrow. It’s DEFINITELY needed.

Katie, I’m going to miss you an awful, awful lot. There is no bouncy, bubbly, giggly girl like you in the whole wide world. And you’re going to be across a big lake. 🙁

But you’ll be back. 🙂 So I’ll smile and be happy now.

And we ended the night with talking of the mess the school has made with the parking situation. How carpooling just doesn’t work anymore. I mean, geez, take my schedule for exmaple. I’m at school every day, the whole year, until at LEAST 5. Usually 5:30. And Mondays, I’m there till 7:30 with Spots. Before school, Monday is my only day to sleep in. Otherwise, I’m there around ten to seven whether it be with marching band or Spots. There’s no one person I could ever get a ride with all the time. Carpooling just doesn’t work with our busy schedules. I really don’t know any of my friends that could do that sort of thing. It’s so nutty. 174 senior permits for 400 seniors?

What WAS the administration thinking? People will park there anyway (as Mitch and others said tonight).

Insanity.

There was also talk of braces and people from our past and other such random things.

This is the beginning of the end, isn’t it guys? We really are on our last leg of the race. 🙂 And I couldn’t be more excited.

Or scared…
