Well you don’t say!
Crap. There I go again letting time get a hold of me. I swear I have the best intentions! I really do, so I don’t understand how/why I allow so long to go in between entries. *sigh* Anyway, here I am again … better late than never!
So to recap my last entry, I wanted to remind myself to write about a few topics … I won’t do them all tonight but I can at least get a few done.
• Hubby’s supervisor
• My Dr. appointments
• The house transformation
• My faith in God
• How to know when to let go of people
• Karate pictures
• My mother’s visit
Karate pictures are tomorrow. TOMORROW PEOPLE! As in February 19 & 20 tomorrow! Where did the time go? Of course I am a nervous wreck. I haven’t done a photo shoot since July so I feel out of practice. But I know I will do just fine. I always end up doing just fine. It’s the getting there part that is hard for me lol. Wish me luck!
Hubby’s supervisor is a first class ass. He has a huge chip on his shoulder. He is one of those "I have done it all, I know it all" kinda guy. He’s been riding hard on Hubby. Why, I don’t know other than he feels threatened by Hubby for some strange reason. Hubby will be in the middle of doing something & Andrew will come up and say, "No. You need to take the part out this way" or "No, you’ll waste too much time tearing the engine down your way so do it my way". Crap like that. Which ends up costing Hubby more hours on the equipment. Big Boss called Hubby in to ask why it took 3 days to take a cylinder out so Hubby explained that he was told to do it Andrew’s way but in the end ended up doing it his (Hubby’s) way & it was out in 4 hours. Andrew was not happy over that fact. They ended up having to have a meeting "at the round table" with Big Boss because Hubby needed a seal for the cylinder & the parts pack didn’t have the exact one. Andrew told him to use a 10 & 1/2" seal. The part was only 10". So, Hubby is used to CYA (cover your ass) per Military regulations – you always get everything in writing in triplicate form lol. So he asked Andrew to please put in writing that he (Andrew) was authorizing Hubby to use a 10 & 1/2′ seal on a 10′ part. Andrew told Hubby he didn’t need it in writing, that his word was good enough. Hubby said that was fine but from past experiences, he’d prefer it in writing because he knows as soon as the cylinder breaks due to an incorrect part being installed, he’d (Hubby) be the one to get his ass chewed out and possibly lose his job and that he was not willing to take that risk on someone’s "word". Andrew was adamant about not putting it in writing. Anyway, as this conversation is taking place, a customer comes waltzing into the office & overhears the conversation between Hubby & Andrew & then goes to the main office & makes a complaint about Hubby being insubordinate. So anyway, Big Boss man pulls them into his office, tells Hubby that Foley will always cover his (Hubby’s) ass over any equipment he works on & there is no need for anything to be in writing because Foley was not the Military. Hubby told him fair enough. Then they brought up other subjects where there had been disagreements between Hubby & Andrew & of course Andrew back peddled on everything and made it seem like he wasn’t "understanding" Hubby at the time. Pfffttttt looks like someone else is doing a little CYA. So then Hubby proceeds to tell Big Boss, "Look, I just want to be given a little credit that I know what I’m doing. I know I’m not in the military anymore and things are done differently. I’m learning to adjust to that. I’ve got 22 years experience on jet engines, 14 years of supervisor experience, hell this time 2 years ago I was in charge of the entire engine shop for the whole base in Kunsan, Korea. The reason I didn’t take Andrew’s job, when you offered to me (he looked right at Andrew at that point lol) and tried to convince me to accept it, is because 1) I wanted a break from being a supervisor and 2) I wanted to learn my way around caterpillar equipment and work my way up. I like just turning wrenches. All I want to do is come in, do my job and then go home at the end of the day. But it is hard to do that when someone keeps looking over my shoulder, micro-managing me and trying to tell me to do it his way. I’m not saying his way is wrong but at least give me the chance to try it my way & if it doesn’t work, then I’ll gladly come ask for help & do it his way. Obviously you had enough faith in me to do my job, hell, even Andrew’s job, so just let me do my job. That’s all I’m asking for." Since then, Andrew has kept his distance from Hubby. Apparently Andrew was not aware that Hubby had been offered his job first & that he is only at this job because Hubby turned it down. I don’t think that set well with him lol. I have to admit I was worried Hubby was going to get fired over the customer complaint but Big Boss assured Hubby that Foley has no intentions of letting him go anytime soon and if he tries to leave on his own accord, they will fight to keep him. Don’t think Andrew was all that happy hearing that either lol.
Oh Jesus. My Mother. My long time readers, y’all already know about my Mother. For you new readers, my Mother is bi-polar/Mommy Dearest at best and Satan himself at worst. I love her because the Bible tells me to. As a person I can’t stand her & if we weren’t related by blood, I would have nothing to do with her. Anyway, I have an Aunt & Uncle who will be traveling to California to visit a son & his family for a few weeks. They will be driving and passing right by us. So in casual conversation I mentioned, "Oh that would be a wonderful chance for you to ride along with them, have them drop you off with us & then pick you up on the way back." Why Sassy? Why? Why? WHY?!!!!!! Long story short, the woman wouldn’t come visit her grand daughter when we lived 20 minutes away so I knew subconsciously she won’t do this. Especially now because she’d be away from home about 8+ weeks. Apparently the Aunt & Uncle are going to be visiting other family also. THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I CAN HANDLE MY MOTHER, UNDER MY ROOF, FOR 8 WEEKS. NO WAY, NO HOW, NUH-UH! The thought of 2 weeks made me break out in a mad sweat but I was willing to make the sacrifice for The Child because I know how meaningful it would be for her to have Grammy here. I could stock up on cases of alcohol & cigarettes to get me through her visit. And I won’t even mention what a sacrifice it would be on Hubby for her to visit! But my Mother is constantly coming up with one (lame) reason after another of why she can’t come & be gone from home for that long. Whatever. Your loss. The Child’s other grandparents will be more than willing to pick up your slack in grand parenting her. But damn, what a close call! lol
The house transformation has been on hold since before Christmas. Every time I go to pick up the paintbrush, something comes up. I really do hope to finish the upstairs soon so I can start on the downstairs. Way back when, I had hoped to be done with it all by this time. *sigh* Hopefully soon.
I recently celebrated my 42nd birthday. I swear the birthday’s come sooner and sooner each year. I recently posted some updated pics on FB & got quite a few private messages from people about them. Mainly the majority couldn’t believe that I am 42. They were accusing me of posting old pictures from my younger days or photo shopping them so bad that they didn’t resemble the "real" me lol Nope. I’m like a fine wine … I get better as I get older. LOL Ok, Ok, I know better. The thanks really goes to Mary Kay. I’ve been using it for 13 years now and it has paid off. It was hard to tell the difference in the beginning but as I get older, and my face doesn’t age, I can really see the difference lol.
Don’t worry, I am going to subject you to the pictures also. Wouldn’t want y’all to feel left out … or like you caught a lucky break! LOL
First up, my new profile picture.
And the others that were posted …
So there you go … that is me in all my 42 years of glory LOL
I’ll finish up my bullet list in my next entry …
Till next time …
You look great. If MK does that I might have to try some 🙂
