Coming along

Things are coming along slowly but surely. I took the afternoon off from unpacking boxes yesterday for the house closing and all. But I made up for lost time and then some. My kitchen is now fully unpacked and set up how I want it. Yay me! The rest of the rooms will be easy as pie now. I hope to be done by the end of the week and can then concentrate on painting so that I can finally get stuff up on the walls. No point hanging it up now only to turn round and take it all down to paint.

I’m surprised I got the kitchen done so quickly. I have to drive The Child to school and pick her up. We live 8/10 of a mile from the school so it is too close for her to ride a bus. Then there is a busy street she would have to cross so I won’t allow her to walk or ride her bike. I trust her. I don’t trust the crazy ass speeding drivers. So I take her. I am back home by 8:10am. At noon I stop to make Hubby’s lunch since he has been coming home for it this week. (He said he’ll start taking it next week.) He leaves about 12:45 and then I stop at 2:45 to get ready to go sit in the car line for her 3:15 dismissal. I’m home by 3:20 and then I stop at 5pm to work on dinner. I try to get a little more done starting at 7pm and then stop at 9 to get my shower and hit the bed. Because by then I am exhausted. Advil and I have become really close friends this past week lol. So even though there is a lot of stop and go, I am making good progress.

The closing was short and sweet. The lawyer had everything set up and ready for us & all we did was sign and we were out of there in 35 mins. Our Realtor had come by the night before with the rough drafts and we went over them then checking to make sure names were spelled correctly (because even though I have very common first & middle names, my parents wanted to be weird and spell them differently) and SSN’s were correct and all that fun stuff. So at the lawyers office we were already familiar with the paperwork. The sellers were not present. Which we found odd because when we bought our last house the seller/buyers were present at the closing. This lawyer said he doesn’t like to do that because he considers it an invasion of privacy since SSN’s are on the paperwork and other info you really don’t want strangers eyeballing. Makes sense to me. Besides, the sellers were already at their new home … in Oklahoma. LOL I found that extremely funny!

After we closed on the house we went and got new drivers licenses. His expires in about 3 weeks and mine not till Feb. but since he was getting his done and the DMV was empty, I did mine too. We were in and out in 30 mins. So for the first time in my life, I am not a legal resident of South Carolina. Yes, I lived in England for 4 years but I maintained my SC license during that time. We had only been in OK for 8 months and I had planned to change it to OK in Feb. but since we are in KS now, well, there you go. I am now a legal resident of KS.

We also opened up an account at a local Credit Union here. Hubby will have his Caterpillar check go into that account and his retirement into the SC account he’s had for 22 years that we use on a daily basis. That check will pay the mortgage & car payment and his Caterpillar check will pay for utilities and gas & food. Confused yet? lol

Well, it is way past my bed time. With Hubby home over the weekend I want to get as much accomplished as I can. I’ve been making a "Honey Do" list this past week. He wanted to be a homeowner so there you go … go fix shit … lol

Till next time ….

We are halfway residents of Kansas. Our vehicles are titled and registered in Kansas. Our DL are still based out of GA. Mine doesn’t expire until my birthday in 2018 so no sense in changing it.

We are thinking about buying a house but I am dreading it cause no more having the military come pack and move us, since we passed our one year mark. But I so would love to move away from AZ. I never changed my DL either, in AZ yours is good until your are 62, so I have always kept it. lived in 2 other states and 2 countries, NC tried to give me a hard time but never changed it
