“She asked you What?!?”

Editor’s Note: I don’t know if anyone even reads my entries or even find some of these stories interesting. I always wonder about that. Occasionally I post entries out of date sequence. When I remember them, I try and place them in the chronological order in which they happened to get the storyline somewhat in sync. Now back to our regularly scheduled Story.

One day, when I was talking to Amanda, she mentioned that Lucinda had pulled her aside at one of the parties I hosted and inquired is she ever thought about participating in a Ménage  a Trois. Although it was a little bit startling to hear her tell me that, it wasn’t all that shocking. Independently, Bill, Jennifer, Lori and I discussed odd comments that the two of them had made over the years that led us to believe they may be ‘swingers’.  Just like the comments they made around us, Amanda didn’t know if it was just a general, albeit improper question or whether it was an actual proposition. Either way, it made her uncomfortable. I apologized and explained to her how we have wondered in the past, but never broached them about the subject. Until months later…

One weekend Eric and Lucinda invited us all to their house. There we are hanging out, drinking beers/wine and playing games. And almost on cue, Lucinda hit that point of alcohol consumption where she becomes a loose cannon.

Out of the blue she calls Jennifer out on it. “So, Jennifer. I hear that you think Eric and I are ‘Swingers’?

Jenn’s mouth dropped and the room went silent. Jennifer looked to the rest of us for some sort of support and found none. Jenn stammered briefly before I jumped in with this overly feigned shocked. “Jenn! What would make you think that?!?!”

“Yeah, Jenn, What’s up with that?!?!?” Lucinda quickly added.

Poor Jenn turned beet red and outed everyone. “It wasn’t just me.We all thought that.” We all acted like we had no idea what she was talking about. after a few minutes, we let her off the hook and came clean about wondering ourselves.

Lucinda and Eric made it clear that they weren’t offended. It turned out Alan asked them. We must have mentioned it to him at one point and of course, Alan was never good at secrets. And unlike us, curiosity got the better of him. When Eric and Lucinda asked him why he thought that, he told them that Jenn mentioned it.

In the end, they informed us that they were not “Swingers”. Later on when it was just Lucinda and I, I was candid about the Amanda situation and she told me that even though they were not ‘swingers’ Eric did have a 3-way fantasy and that she was open to help him fulfill such a fantasy. I never asked if they ended up succeeding in their quest. Guess it’s not something I feel I can bring up in casual conversation more than once without sounding like a pervert.
