The Village People
What possessed us I can not say, but a bunch of my friends were invited to go up to a college in Geneseo for Homecoming, where they had the music group The Village People and the Trammps as the opening group and we decided to take the girl up on the offer. The novelty was too much to resist despite another offer to see Bob Dylan in Ithaca that Jean had invited us to the same weekend. We kept a running journal of this trip for posterity…
Anyway, George, Sean and I hopped into my car, drove to Hofstra to pick up Don. Then we drove up to Albany to join up with Matt. We spent the night at Denver and Matt’s Dorm causing nothing but mayhem, then, after convincing Denver to join us, proceeded west in my Nova, following Matt’s Oldsmobile, nicknamed “Snout.”
The plan was to meet up with our friend Melissa, go to the concert and crash in her dorm that night, and in the morning go to Ithaca to visit Jean., but as soon as we got there things seemed uncomfortable.
The concert was fun. I ended up flirting with a girl named Janea that was wearing the same Beatles T-Shirt as me. But quickly it seemed that Matt and Melissa were really annoyed with each other causing Matt, Denver, and George to leave that night. Sean and I felt obligated to stay and did. Don, the whole trip worrying about some report he needed to do, decided that he was going to go straight home with a friend of his who happened to be visiting his brother here in Geneseo this weekend. Sean and I met the rest of them in Ithaca along with Rich and Michelle who went there for Bob Dylan. It turned out that no sooner did they arrive in Ithaca then they got in trouble by campus security for scaling a wall while playing Frisbee. After visiting for a while, Sean, George and I parted ways with Denver and Matt whom headed back to Albany and we headed home.
Don, however ended up in his friend’s car that made a few stops on the way home, one being Albany, and he got back home long after the rest of us did.
