Random self-esteem boost:
This image flashed across my Pinterest feed (labeled "Vogue Cover, February 1956).
And I couldn’t help but think "gee, that looks an awful lot like *me* at our wedding.
Yay for Ebay, and that fabulous vintage Harry Keiser dress. I never felt like a princess in it, but I feel like myself, and in my book that’s more important.
The semester’s finishing up, with all of its usual craziness. The last Christmas gift (and one of only two storebought ones) came in the mail today, and has been wrapped. Finishing Christmas shopping before December is a record for me. Although this year just about everyone is getting homemade jam/salsa/hot chocolate mix. J’s sister asked for earmuffs, and I stumbled across this salt and pepper shaker set, which proved irresistible (My great-grandparents’ little farm, where my grandmother lives now, is known as the Pea Patch). Maybe next year I’ll actually pull off 100% homemade gifts…that would be exciting (and hopefully kind to our budget).
My final semester assignments are due on the 12th, and then we’re off for J’s brother’s wedding on the 15th, and then some time with my mom’s family (most of whom haven’t met J yet). We’ll be back at our place shortly after Christmas. And then the start of Spring semester won’t be far behind. I’ll only have two more classes left after this semester, which is crazy to think about. And I’d better come up with some ideas for dissertation stuff soon.
That’s a lovely picture of you at your wedding. Do you think you may pursue a PhD one day — forgive me if that’s already your career path. If I remember correctly it’s a master’s program?

That Pinterest picture is indeed loely, but I would argue that your picture is far prettier. And if only your sentiments about self versus princess were more widely shared. The shaker set definitely seems like a worthy purchase. Good luck in the next few weeks!
