Lifestyle changes aren’t always good

For the most part, everything about this "lifestyle" change has been positive. BUT.. since changing my diet my hair has been falling out. This is concerning. I don’t want to be fat all my life but on the other hand I don’t want to be bald before I turn 40 either.  I take a multi-vitamin with lots of B vitamins which promote healthy hair and growth but I’m still worried that all my hair will fall out and I will be bald. I recently started taking extra Biotin to help with this but I’m not sure it’s going to be enough.

When I shower and wash my hair there is always at least 15 or 20 strands of hair that come out and then when I towel dry it (never use hair dryer) there is another handful of hair. It’s making me worry.

Does anyone have any suggestions to stop the hair from falling out? I had hair down to my waist last year then cut it off at my shoulders and now I’m losing more. 🙁

Hair loss is common during weight loss, taking vitamins is always a good idea. The most effective is vitamin B-5. It can be found in Egg yolks, orange juice, brewers yeast, legumes (nuts), liver, whole grains, mushrooms, salmon, wheat germ, and beans. If you are interested I have a list of specific vitamins for specific weight loss problems. You should also try using cold water to wash your hair.

Good luck in reaching your goal! Note me if you’d like to know anymore. 🙂

Are you under lots of stress? You should go to a doctor, to see what they suggest. I shed a ton, but that’s because I have a lot of hair. And I know when I’m under stress, or not getting enough iron, my hair sheds even worse. I would get it looked at, maybe they can prescribe you something, or suggest some different vitamins for you.

🙂

I have been shedding a lot too but I am hoping its just because it is so hot.

I’d check with a doctor, because hair loss can be a sign of a serious problem.

I’d go to a doctor, chica, maybe he can suggest some extra-strength vitamins or something. Are you eating enough? If you’re not eating at least 1200 calories a day (consistently) you may be malnourished, and that can cause your hair to fall out…

i’d go to a doc and explain your weight loss. maybe they can help.

Yup, I say ask your doctor about it, too. Just in case, ya know? Besides, if anyone’s going to know how to help your sheading problem it’ll be a physican. Good luck on that.

It could be stress …. or it could be a vitamin or mineral you are missing … I would definitely check with the doc. It’s probably the diet that is causing it, you may need more supplements and the doc would know what to take.
