Grrr, Taxes, Leaving for VT

I got a note in the mail from the city telling me that I owe them another $121.  At least they included a note explaining part of their logic. I still think they’re wrong but I need to pull out my information and run through some calculations to see. I think they taxing me on income both when I earned it and also when I received it. Trouble is I have to do resolve this and mail it by the 17th but I’m leaving for VT today and don’t return until the 15th.  (EDIT – Just spent 1 1/2 hours working this out. Local tax place appears correct. I owe them but I get a refund from the town where I work – $861.. After lots of digging I discovered that the complex calculations on the W-2 forms that show different income for Fed wages, state wages, local wages, Medicare wages, etc. actually work correctly! Now I know I can trust them in future years)

We got hit hard with cold and snow after our 80 degree day on Tuesday. All the critters and blossoms are having a tough time of it. Diane found a hurt Robin (one of our cats). She tried to rescue it but it died. Our daffodils are also taking a beating. We got abut 2-3 inches of snow but the temperature hasn’t gone above freezing and the wind gusts are over 40 mph. It’s tough out there.

It’s 9:00 and I still need to gather more clothes. Business travel is easy and routine but now I have to pack for business, 4 days of casual and a wedding – all in the snow. Winter clothes are bulky. Luckily nobody cares what I look like. It’s only friends and family.

Justin is coming home this weekend but we’ll be gone. Our flight is at 3:15 and he’ll get here about 5:00. Diane’s a little nervous about flying. She rarely does it anymore so she’s getting soft. I hope she has a good experience then she’ll be more likely to join me sometime on one of my business trips. I still haven’t had her join me on an international trip.

Well, time to finsh packing and do a little yoga.
