Orlando Trip (edit w/ pic)

I spent the week in Orlando at a conference. Although it was cool compared to normal there, it was still 60 degrees warmer than here. I just went out for a few groceries and we had lunch at Sophia’s Pancake house. The wind is howling and blowing snow hard. The temperature is below 20 and dropping. Tomorrow the high will be 7 degrees. I guess I’ll just hunker down with a good book.  I really like the convenience of the Florida climate. I would like to spend some time there in the winter when I retire. Diane is not too keen on the idea but some of my brothers have the same thoughts. Perhaps we can work out something.

Here’s a picture of an odd building just down the street from our hotel.  Really catches the eye.

Our house is having difficulty keeping an even temperature. I bet it’s 10 degrees warmer up in my office than downstairs. I removed the filter in the furnace to increase the air flow. I think I also need to see if there is a buildup of dust on the blades. I know this can greatly impact the blower efficiency. The filters I use would prevent dust but the prevous owners used cheap ones.

The Hockey cats won last night 3-2 against Providence. They play again tonight and I’m hoping for a sweep. The Cats have a fighting chance of finishing high in the national standings this year. UNH and , BC  lost while BU tied so the Cats move up relative to them in Hockey East.  Of course, the big news in sports this weekend is the Super Bowl. I am just not interested. Colts and Bears.  Who cares?

I got a call last Sunday just as I was heading to the airport. Brother Mike filled me in that brother Dean is struggling a bit financially with the new business. He just retired from the Air Force last summer cause the kept sending him to the Middle East and he’s got a strange ex-wife and 2 young kids that need him. I admire him for his decision. His biggest fault is that he really wants her to like him. Since he really loves the kids his ex takes advantage of him. All of his pension goes to child support even though they have joint custody and the kids spend half the time with him! He could get this changed but he won’t. I’m not too anxious to help him out if he won’t help himself. I’ll just end up enabling him to enable her. (She is greedy and needs to own the best of everything. This has gotten them in the predicament they are in now. I need to contact him and see how he’s doing anyway.

Time for a little exercise. I only lifted weights 1 time in the 5 days in Orlando. Need to get back on track.

Namaste

Nice to read what’s been happening with you. I was missed on getting the results of last night’s Cats’ game. I have been getting all of UVM’s sports, well, BB and hockey, men and women. Wonder why I was missed. Does your heating syestem hav flaps on the registers in each room which can closed down some? I never thought of winter as being inconvenient. This year I have thought ofthat tho.

I saw that building while I was in Orlando for a Nationals Archery tournament – we really got a kick out of it.
