Halloween Fail

I so wanted to make Jenna’s first Halloween exciting. I know she wouldn’t remember it, but I still had high hopes. I wanted to dress her up, and show her off. And I did get to to that… We went to a small Halloween party last night. Jenna in her little white tiger costume, I was a hippie chick, Danny was a farmer. She was a hit at the party.

But all I really wanted to do was take her to a pumpkin patch. I remember, as a kid, I always begged my parents to take my sister and I to the pumpkin patch every year. I wanted to walk in the mud and pick out my very own pumpkin. (I went with school once and loved it so much!) But, we always settled for a store bought pumpkin. I know Jenna wouldn’t remember that she went. But I would. And I would show her the pictures.

And while we did have fun with our friends last night, I still feel bad that her first holiday was nothing special.

It was special!! She’s brand new, you have YEARS UPON YEARS to make memories with her, this was your first, she was in costume as were you and Danny!!! That counts for a lot!! Besides it’s not a ‘holiday’ that counts, the ones that count are ones spent with family… Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter.. 😉 Next year hopefully she will be walking and you can set her free in a muddy pumpkin patch

and watch her stumble as she makes her way through the mess to find HER perfect pumpkin, YOU can make those memories!!! The only time I got a pumpkin from a patch was on field trips too, mine were always store bought. Bella has gotten them all, field trip, store bought and pumpkin patch! 🙂 We make our own memories even if our parents didn’t do it with us!!! 🙂
