Yeah, I saw sparks….
I’ve been married for a month today! The ‘husband’ (still adjusting to this word!), left me a cute note on the counter before he left for work this morning.
Geez, I love him.
Our wedding pictures were waiting in our mailbox upon our return from the big Edmonton roadtrip!!
Edmonton, was… not Ottawa.
Not that I I thought it would be, honestly I had no idea what to expect, but it’s like a mini/less populated Toronto.
West Edmonton was fun-ish. We went early in the Morning, and before the mall flooded with people, it was nice. Working at MAC made me hate malls. Just being in big city malls drives me nuts, but I really wanted to go to Victoria Secret (I’ve never been before!), and I needed boots.
Back in OT, I bought these super cute Ugg boots. I know, cute and Ugg boots in the same sentence… what? But they’re heeled and super cute, but functional in Fort Mac, not so much!
I saw these cute knee high Uggs on the Victoria Secret website, but they didnt have them in store. Turns out they didnt really have anything I looked at online in store, but I still managed to spend a ton of money there anyways!
So I bought "Sorel" Boots. After seeing another super cute pair of Uggs, all sexy and furry, Sam talked me into looking at the more, functional winter wear. It’s only November and my pauvre bear can’t even go outside to pee without boots, her little feet get too cold. So, I got the waterproof, super warm, flat boots.
If you read me, you’ll remember, a week before the wedding I dislocated my toes. Well, I wore heels anyways, and danced and danced and danced! My toes were in terrible shape after, and they’re still recovering. Driving in heels wasn’t helping, so I’m banned from wearing my Uggs until my toes heel, as per the Husband.
So after a day of shopping, I bought underwear, and boots! Oh, and a slouchy toque.
We had dinner at Corso 32. If you’re Canadian and read MacLeans you might recognize it from the "Best Restaurants of 2012" edition. We got married at Sidedoor (Ottawa), so we’ve decided since we’ve hit up two, we’re going to try and hit up most of the restaurants in the Magazine.
The food was amazing. It’s an Italian Place, and small. They seat 34 people. We called a week before and could only get in at 10pm, but lucky for us someone cancelled so we toughed out the dry Edmonton cold and walked over for 9. The food was amazing (I already said that right?). They suggest serving it as a 6 course meal.
We started with "before" drinks from the suggested menu. Amazing, and ordered a bottle of Chianti for dinner… lovely…!
Our Server suggested we get two antipasti, split a pasta dish, split a meat dish, add one side and split the cheese course and dessert. The food was plentiful, even though we were sharing each course the portions were very generous…! The highlights for me were the Prosciutto di parma, and the Tuscan Kale pasta dish with rabbit. By the time we were getting through the meat course, we were getting so stuffed we skipped cheese and split a dessert. We shared the Vanilla Panna Cotta. Oh my god, it was to die for. It was a our first Panna Cotta, so now Panna Cotta has a high standard to live up to…! All in all an amazing trip…!
Back to life in Fort Mac.
I don’t know much about injuries, so I haven’t been elevating my foot, nor icing it since the injury happened so long ago now. But turnbs out I still should be, for a speedier recovery.
I want to get into the gym, but you’d be surprised how much toe strength most work outs require! But as soon as I can, it’s personal trainer time! Katie wants us to go down to Miami to visit, and Sam thinks right after my birthday (end of march) is perfect. There’s a Heat game, and Katie says the weather is amazing. So I have about 5 months, to heal and work out.
I’ve been eating super healthy lately. With the exception of the Bacon, Chocolate chip biscotti Mr. Fortin made from scratch! But I’ve drinking "Green Vibrance" every morning. It’s an all natural, superfood podwer that tastes like grass. But it’s amazing for you, boosts your immune system, cleanses your system, and speeds up metabolism! In addition, I’ve been drinking kale-berry smoothies as one of my meals. They’re not bad. Once we get a blender, and I’m not chewing on chinks of kale it’ll be mucho better 🙂 ‘m not eating processed foods anymore, as much as I can. Eating clean just makes you feel so much better…!
And, I do feel better, and my eczema is betterish. Since it’s so cold already (today it’s -24!!), my skin is so much drier. The woman at the Music store told me that without a guitar humidifier, my guitar would be sure to crack and split :S. Being a new guitar owner I had no idea that was a possibilty, and Ottawa is so humid itself, I didn’t have any problems. Ottawa is where the eczema started, and I can only imagine this will be a rough winter if I can’t get it under control 🙁
Speaking of my guitar, I think I’m going to show him some love 🙂
I want to write about the wedding… soon I think.
YAY for eating clean! Good for you. Just randomly saw you on the front page, and saw that you were recently married. Congrats! I wonder how one disclocates multiple toes at once.

Nothing like Ontario. Check out the Nakuik boots.

I hated Edmonton, Calgary was MUCH nicer, IMO. It’s super conservative though. I’m forever searching for a cute but warm pair of boots. Haven’t found any that live up to my standards yet.

Congratulations on the marriage. 🙂 I’m having my second wedding in about a month so it’s nice to hear someone enjoying their marriage. 🙂

RYN: I promise I didn’t laugh when I read how you dislocated your toes. (though maybe I smiled and I apologize for that). Note to self: Stand away from stairs when about to sneeze. I shall learn from you.

Happy anniversary! 🙂 Good luck with eating clean, it sounds great. Ryn: Ah. Different couple, then, but same rotten luck? :p
