here comes the bride

Hi there! So, apparently it’s been over two months since my last entry. Whoops.

Which means we should start with something fun to get back in the swing of things (rather than the laundry list of complaints that are just dying to jump out of me right now – let’s stay positive!).

I went wedding dress shopping for the second time this past weekend! Back in July, I went with my mom, Sue, and Allison to David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo in Richmond. Then this past Saturday, Bill’s mom and I went out in New York.

So far, there are two potential options – very different from each other and neither one ABSOLUTELY100PERCENTPERFECT, but I’ve learned that with my price budget, I’m probably not going to find a dress that has every single detail I’d ideally find in just one dress.

Despite the lighting in the photos, both of these dresses are ivory (though the left may be a lighter ivory than the right). Surprisingly, my eyes were just drawn to every ivory dress in the store. I did not expect that at all going in.

Nor did I expect to love a dress like the one on the left as much as I did. But I did. And Sue did. And Mom did. And Allison did. And the girls at work did.

But then I tried on the one on the right, and fell in love all over again. This one is much more traditional, and more like what I originally pictured.

My biggest concerns are 1) I can’t quite imagine walking down the aisle in the dress on the left. It’s beautiful and I love it, but I’m not there yet; and 2) I’m not sure I want a dress quite as big as the one on the right. Our wedding won’t be tiny, but it’s not some grand, fancy affair either and I don’t want to feel overdressed for my own wedding. Capish?

Help me!

Both are gorgeous, but #2 is my fave. You could always get them to take out some of the crinolin from underneath the second one too make it a little less pouffy, or you could shorten the train…but I don’t think it looks TOO big for the type of wedding you’re going to have. did you ever pick a wedding date/venue? You should go to kleinfelds in ny!

ps if you’re doing it outdoors in the summertime that dress might be a tad bit warm though….

Oh my gosh – number one is breathtaking! It’s so unique and figure-flattering. I also think it’s less formal than number two.

re: you can order most dresses with or without a train. I don’t think it costs anything extra, thats what heather did with her dress. and good, may is enough time for me to lose some weight, I was worried you’d pick feb or march and I’d look like a whale still. hahaha

omg i teared up at these. you are going to be a beautiful, perfect bride. AS FOR BEING OVER DRESSED: you’re the mothereffing bride. i don’t care if you get married in a backyard with christmas tree lights and kfc for dinner- you wear what YOU feel the most beautiful in. the second option is my fav of these two, BUT….i think keep looking. i think no matter the budget, you’ll get a feeling. yes?

I don’t think it’s possible to be overdressed for your own wedding… you’re the BRIDE, you’re supposed to be the most dolled-up chick there! 😉 That said, I adore the 2nd one. 🙂

I have been thinking about you and was going to message you on FB…i’m glad you wrote! I was also going to ask if you went to Kleinfelds…kiddingly, of course, because unless you have a gazillion dollars it’s crazy. Anyway, I am usually totally traditional and was pretty classic with my own dress, but I LOVE number 1! It’s different but not trendy, and i think it totally flatters you! I’m an

ivory fan too. I just think you look…I don’t know, powerful and sexy but also very elegant and classy in number 1. Two is gorgeous, but 1 is something special. You can’t go wrong with either, though. Also, I don’t think you can ever be overdressed for your own wedding, so don’t worry about that.

I totally vote #1. you look amazing in it. Is it possibly the bow that throws you off? You could always take it off andput some other jewel-y thing there. Not gonna lie, don’t like #2…

LOVE number one. It’s amazingly breathtaking!

our parents didnt meet until at the wedding, ha! We had kind of planned on doing a bbq or something at our house before but it just never happened. Our moms were at my baby shower of course, and then all the parents were at the hospital when Chloe was born, but thats it. oh well. LOL

I don’t know if we’ll have a shower or not. It’ll be a lot to get one planned with my work schedule and my parents don’t have a lot of extra money right now so I don’t want her spending $$ on decorations and food and stuff. I’m not saying anything to her because I don’t really want her to deal with that with everything else she has going on. Plus I have a lot of the big stuff I need and I do have a list of little stuff, but I don’t want people to feel obligated to buy something, ya know? My aunt’s giving me money for the furniture and I’ve gotten a ton of baby clothes from my cousin.
