we’re looking for something dumb to do

Geez, it’s been awhile.  Sorry about that.

The new job is keeping me very busy.  And it has made such an incredible difference in my life.  I am infinite times more happy these days than I ever was while working at Bravo.  I seriously feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.  My entire attitude is more positive, and I’m much more light-hearted now.  I’m much more like I used to be before I moved to New York.  And I love it.

Our bed broke about six weeks ago, but we’d just been dealing with one corner of the mattress sagging almost to the floor.  Until Sunday when I ordered a new bed.

I’ve always wanted a white bedroom set in my guest room, paired with pale yellow walls.  When I came across this set on the Kohl’s website, I fell in love.  So, we spent the $400 it took to get the bed by itself (split across two payments over the next 60 days, yay), and we’ll buy the nightstand and then dresser over the next 6-8 months.

The white furniture should also look lovely in our pale purple bedroom until we’re ready for something nicer.

We’re heading home to Virginia this weekend.  It’s my goddaughter’s 2nd birthday and I didn’t make it down for her 1st birthday, so we made it a point to come this year.  She’s not going to be able to have a party because she’s sick, but we’ll still get to see her and visit with the family.  Also meeting with two wedding planners who can hopefully help us save money and will help us with the million things that wedding planning involves.

Speaking of the wedding, my dad called me a few weeks ago and left a voicemail saying he would dance with me at my wedding.  It may seem weird to read that, but if you knew my dad you would understand.  My dad is the polar opposite of a people person.  I wasn’t even sure he was going to attend my wedding, much less walk me down the aisle or dance a father-daughter dance with me.  

So it seriously made me cry when I heard that voicemail (and now I have a new phone and can’t listen to it anymore, which I’m rather upset about).  It really really means a lot to me that he’s willing to put aside his own issues (he absolutely hates having any attention placed on him) so that he can be there for my special day.  Man, I miss my parents.
