Contemplate… and relax
It is SO so so so so good not having the landlord here. Ergh, it’s like I could now walk around naked if I wanted to – not that I would as I think B might find it weird – A prob wouldn’t have an issue. Either way, it’s refreshing.
This morning I had $300 worth of groceries rock up at my front door. LOL. I decided I’d rather have food in the house so I am not tempted to rush out and buy expensive takeaways whilst I am unemployed. How and why did I pay for $300 worth of groceries? It’s called Mastercard darling. "For everything else, there’s…" 😛
So yes, it doesn’t seem like that much stuff when I ordered it online, but because I was over $300, it was free delivery, plus I scored a decent amount of frequent flier points, PLUS I got it delivered to my front door and didn’t have to lug shit up and down the street like I would’ve had to, since I don’t have a car either.
Gee it seems like I’m going backwards. I don’t have a job or a car. This time last year, I had both! Granted, not having a car is saving me a fuckload of cash – God those things add up (fuel, insurance, rego, repairs, parking/red light/speeding fines, parking fees…geesh). I just have to admire the overcompensating guys who park their Ferrari’s and Lamborgini’s on Park Road at Milton most times I see on my way to the gym.
Speaking of, I had a really good gym session today, that I just got back from actually. I upped my bench press from 50kg to 60kg. God it was an effort but I did my three sets of eight. I also came across a website called Fitocracy, which is sort of like a checking-in of your results and what you did at the gym and you get points/achievements and such. I’m still pretty new to it, but it seems pretty cool so far. Unfortunately there is no option for ‘Chest Press’ which is one of my favourite machines, so I have to improvise, which is annoying as all heck, but I guess the app is probably american and they might call it something else over there. But even after googling alternative names for a chest press, I couldn’t find anything, even going through each and every chest exercise listed on that website, but to no avail 🙁 Maybe they’ll add it in? It sucks that it’s only a website and not an app, but I guess I can wait til I get home to log what I did. As an example, this is what it looks like on the ‘Feed’ page.
I dunno how long I’ll stick at the website, but it seems pretty cool.
So yeah anyway, backtracking – I brought all my groceries in this morning. Finding room for them was interesting. I’m glad neither of my housemates walked into the kitchen cos I had plastic bags friggin everywhere lol. One of the items I’d ordered was a $35 set of electronic scales, cos we don’t have any in the house, and because I love my fitness goals, I thought it was a good idea to get one. Well when I opened it up and eventually figured out how it worked, I realise how cool is actually is. You can program up to 11 people into it, and you tell it your age and your height, and it not only tells you your weight, but your BMI, bone density mass, body fat percentage AND how many kilojoules you should eat per day to maintain that weight. I am very impressed with it! Today, the electronic scales said I am – wait I’ll go check again – I am exactly 87.0kg. Yay! At least this thing gives me an exact weight as well. To think I used to be 75 kilos really makes me smile. The fact that I still look slim at 87 kilos annoys me somewhat, but I am nearly 2 meters tall – dammit.
I’d ordered heaps of meat and barramundi (after finding out it’s a Superfood I’ve been caught up in the hype) and prawns (which I ate for lunch today and they were lovely actually) and I’m concerned they may go out of date before i get to consume them. That’s the thing with ordering groceries online I’ve noticed – the picker will always choose perishable items close to the use-by. But everything else is great. I can’t believe I bought so much, but at least I don’t have to worry about it for a while and hopefully a job will come along.
I applied for a job today that’s well out of my comfort zone. I spent a lot of today thinking about it and whether I could handle such a change. Well after I got home from gym and my awesome workout, I decided to go ahead and apply for it. If I get it great, if I don’t, then I’ll just laugh it off by asking myself what was i thinking. The ad was well-written though and I tend to go for advertisements that are a little more quirky than the generic boring ads that spell to me how boring the job actually must be. I came across two of them. The one I applied for, and there was one other one that pays extremely well, but is probably a bit too far out my reach given my lack of experience, but the point is, the ads were written quirkily. If even in the hell freezes over chance that I even own a business, I’d write my ads quirkily also.
That other ad I applied for over a week ago, and got taken down, has reappeared with the original posting date on it – so that’s a bit weird. I’d still ideally love that job, but if I’ve been waiting over a week I should pretty much move on, right? Part of me thinks it’s cos I turned that other job interview down after I did all that research on where it was actually located, so they’ve gone ‘Nup, stuff him’ lol. Their loss I say. I know I do a good job.
Before gym today I went and bought a heap of sunscreen from the Woolies in Paddington. I recognised a friend of mine working there – I didn’t realise he’d changed stores. I walked the long way around just to buy sunscreen, and although the weather was great all morning, by the time I got out of the gym, the cloud had started to cover the sky and i had to rummage through my bag for my other shirt because I realised I was freezing. So much for that. I think it’s meant to be showering again for the next week. Great. Not this again! What’s with rain in Winter? Summer I can understand because we’re notorious for the heat causing storms quickly out of nowhere, but rain + cold = annoyed Matty lol. And I don’t even have a boyfriend to keep my warm. Thank God for heaters and aircon.
My best friend is staying the night at mine tonight. It’ll be good to see him. He’s ignoring my housemate (the one he likes) again. I didn’t even ask. The whole situation is just lamage now. My housemate clearly isn’t interested but my best friend just won’t see no as an answer. I knew this situation would happen when B moved in here, but oh well, it’s been better than I predicted. I used to think i wouldn’t see my bestie at all.
My mum rang me last night. It was nice to hear from her. She, of course, asked me why I got rid of my facebook. Haha! Apparently my sister told my mum I’d gotten rid of it first and mum must’ve checked back at the farm or something. But it just goes to show – the people actually closest to me (Mum, bestie C and V) have all rang me wanting to keep in touch, which is nice. V told me I had to come back on facebook if I came back with a negative result. i dunno. I miss it and I don’t miss it. I mainly miss it because I link so many of my photos here from there, but the above one I just used in the OD pictures thingy, although I’m pretty sure that doesn’t hold that much space.
There’s a new "gay night" on tonight called ‘Precious’ that my bestie asked me if I was going to. It’s on once a month from tonight onward. I said to him pretty bluntly, ‘It’s just gunna be full of the same ol’ queens in a decked-out venue’. I personally couldn’t think of anything worse. I start to wonder if I really have become that cranky old man who sits on the front verandah and yells at school children to get off his lawn. So that’s why he wants to crash here the night.
I will probably go out tomorrow night however, as I am going to a comedy show with C, who invited me cos she’s scored free tickets. Nice. I love comedy shows. I seriously do not go to enough of them, even that free one that is on every Sunday – i can’t believe I’ve only been to that once in the whole time I’ve lived here. Laughter really is the best medicine, and I’m so glad I’m in a good mood today.
I had to even laugh at my starsign in the Mx today – "Use this weekend to contemplate – and relax." – Ummm pretty sure that’s what I’ve been doing for the last three months!
I love shopping delivery :L but over here, they always pick out the old shit t get delivered 🙁 xx

Don’t forget to do your follow-up on any jobs you’ve applied for……call them, ask them if they got your resume or application, ask them if they’ve hired anyone yet……etc, etc!!

RYN: That short lived fireworks show was in San Diego just an hour south of Los Angeles. Had it happened in Los Angeles the patrons would have just set the city on fire as a replacement show. Always wanted to visit Australia. Maybe after college. Scott

Damn, you’re tall! I’m only 1.85 meters, and that’s usually taller than a lot of people around here! My brother is taller, though.
