Registration is for dogs, not humans

I can only assume that our new Premier knows what he’s doing by trying to keep the Christians and the farmers happy.  It already wasn’t the same as marriage, hence why it was called a ‘Civil partnership’!  But now he has changed watered-down the name hahaha – this really seems quite unnecessary and lame.
At first I was pissed off at how more and more it seems like Queensland is returning to a Bjelke-Peterson era with Newman in, but he hasn’t repealed the laws completely.  The stunning part of this article for me was this

" Mr Newman, who personally supports allowing same-sex marriage, last week revealed the cabinet had decided not to repeal the legislation, but would simply remove the state-sanctioned declaration ceremony option, which had so far been taken up by few couples…"

So we can still be recognised, just have to fill out the paperwork.  Gee thanks gov!  I’ll invite ya to be best-man at the wedding Campbell.

This whole equality thing really is starting to feel like we’re lab-rats in an experiment that should have had an answer twenty years ago.  No wonder gay-advocacy is so huge and we’re annoying society with ‘We’re here, we’re queer" marches every few months – cos lame shit like THIS keeps happening with no results.  One step forward, two steps back.

I mean, what was the point of this, really?  Hetero’s can still have the state-sanctioned ceremony, but alas, now homo’s can’t, because it was too close to being associated with the marriage act?  Instead, we can have a BBQ with a few snags out the back shed out of the way of normal society.  Wooo! 🙂  I think I’d prefer that haha.

I did laugh how they inserted [federal] in brackets like that in the article.

A lot of my facebook friends are making jokes like "I’m off to register the dog, the cat…. and the boyfriend."

I thought it was spot on when I read in the paper this week – "Registration is for dogs, not for humans."

Edit:  And I just came across this 🙁

Just plain nasty.

http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2012/06/20/australia-mp-wishes-wife-a-happy-anniversary-in-speech-against-marriage-for-gay-couples/

"Australian video blogger Tom McLean said a lawmaker using a speech against the equal marriage bill as an opportunity to wish his wife a happy anniversary was a similar, but less serious, situation to “wishing happy birthday to your son as part of a eulogy you’re delivering for someone else’s child. That you had a hand in killing.”

I dunno if I’d use that analogy, but I can’t blame him for retaliating bitchily to this, but yes, definitely still a kick in the nuts.

Love this.

Amazing video. We’re likely having gay marriage legalised here in the UK (about bloody time), and I’m glad to say that I don’t think I don’t anyone who is against it, apart from some members of the catholic church (who I don’t know personally) and probably the odd horrible sack of shit. I don’t really see how anyone can be against it and am yet to hear any argument against that makes sense…

…If I ever decide to get married, the gender of whoever I want to marry won’t be an issue to me, or to my family. Hopefully one day it won’t be an issue anywhere, for anyone. We can live and hope. xx

RYN: 8th of August is when I’ll ovulate (Wednesday Hump Day interestingly) .. So I’ll be shagging for Australia in the days leading up. Mark it in your diary 😉

Registered Relationship sounds like having all the Jews wear stars if you ask me. Obviously it’s not as extreme but it does give it a decidedly negative spin, like these couples need to be watched or something :/ xxx
