Aerial view of my hometown

I’ve only slept for about two hours, but I feel pretty good, and at least I slept at night.  The last few nights, or weeks even, I’ve been staying up all night on and off, just because it’s always felt so normal for me to do so, then I’d get tired by around 6am and end up sleeping away the majority of the daylight hours.  Even though I only slept between about 2am and 5am, the little night-nap I think has done me good, and it’s nice to wake up seeing the sunlight struggling to fit between my blinds.

I turned the TV on and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert is on.  I’m amazed by how many people have turned out for it and how patriotic the English are!  Union Jack flags everywhere!  Just add a few stars here and there and you got my country! 😛  It’s pretty cool to see.  They are currently showing some of the highlights as I type this, and the full concert is on TV tonight.  I think I’m heading out to dinner with my new housemate though 🙂

I came across a photo a few days ago that pretty much amazed me.  It won’t mean much to you guys, but it’s an aerial view of the town where I went to school and spent a lot of my time growing up in my childhood years – Millmerran.

I spent a little while yesterday just staring at this picture, trying to figure out what direction it was taken from.  I’ve always been pretty hopeless with directions – so much so that I can’t tell what direction is which when I’m indoors.  If it wasn’t for familiar landmarks, I wouldn’t even know what direction is what when I’m outside!

But what helps me with this picture is the blue swimming pool on the left of the picture, the sports centre next to that, and the football field and cricket fields behind the swimming pool, so that tells me my old school is across from that.  My family’s farm would probably be well into the distance along the Gore highway toward the top right of the photo =)  At least I’m pretty sure I’ve got that right haha.
It’s always pretty exciting coming across photos like this.  Someone randomly posted it on my brother’s facebook so I’ll nick it for here, so I can have a record of where I grew up from an aerial view =)

Hopeless me is still sitting here trying to remember what some of the roads are…. gah!!  Clearly I would probably know but it’s just slipping my mind 🙂

I’ve got an aerial shot like that of Penang Malaysia when I used to live there. (12 years ago).

quite a small town. I grew up in a semi-larger place and thought that was pretty small :^/
