Hobart – Day 4 (Photos)
Today I got up at a half-decent time (2:30pm is half-decent right?) 😛 and I went for a walk along Sandy Bay road. Of course, being a typical tourist, I managed to go to the wrong way, but I was glad I did because I ended up getting some pretty saweet photos of the main bridge in Hobart that the "Airporter" drive over on my way to dropping me off at the hotel.
I then walked what felt like a massive distance, the right way, along Sandy Bay Road. I knew that seemed to be the main road that ran along the water’s edge, so I just stuck to it.
I then spent the next few hours being a Japanese Tourist.
I had a fascination with the clouds hanging around below the mountain. Hobart is completely surrounded by mountains – I haven’t seen a city like that before. I mean Toowoomba is on a mountain range, but not below several.
Okay, resizing the photos, the above ones are too big.
Told ya – tourist
i didn’t actually notice the rainbow til after I left this area 🙂
Do your clouds hang low, do ya toss em to and fro?
Rainbow
Okay, the point of this photo is i swear to GOD that bird sitting on the post-thingy in the middle of the water was a penguin. It SO looked like one, but then I thought ‘No it can’t be!’ cos even though Tasmania is the next closest main land to Antartica, penguins don’t come up this close do they? I originally thought it was a statue of one, but then it was flapping it’s wings and moving it’s head. Another couple near me stopped to take photos of it as well and I swear I heard the girl ask her partner ‘is that a penguin?’
Sucks my phone doesn’t have a zoom and makes photos look further away than what my eye can see. I’ll get a decent camera one day – it’s just convenient having it on a phone.
Certainly made me do a double-take – damn UFO’s!
Beginning my long walk along Sandy Bay Road. It was around about here that a guy on a bicycle called out at me twice, and informed/asked me if i knew my beanie was on backwards – LOL. I quickly took it off and turned it the other way =P Nice of him.

I couldn’t actually figure out which part of this was the casino, but meh
I stopped at a little cafe called ‘The Blue Strawberry’ where a young guy served me and gave me discounted food cos they were about to close. Nice of him 🙂 I sat and ate it here cos it was pretty and the sun was starting to go down.
It was around about now that it felt like the temperature dropped 10 degrees. I had worn out two shirts, my cardigan and my beanie, as well as my long cargo’s and connies, yet I suddenly felt so much colder. I guess when the sun dips below the mountains, there’s just little heat left to warm up this place! This is when I started walking with my hands in my pockets, trying to keep them warm.
I hadn’t gone on grindr this whole time cos I wanted to save my battery to document all these annoying tourist photos =P but I decided to. I finally saw there was a reply from Clayton. He was surprised I was still in Hobart. I replied that I leave in the morning. I told him I dined at "Rockwall’ and he said he was at work til 8 and he told me to come in for coffee. I told him I tried messaging him. Meh. If there was a final chance to meet that Tassie boy, that was it. I left him my mobile number and signed out of Grindr.
I did notice I was near the University Of Tasmania however, and there were a few guys there. I walked into the campus grounds to have a look around, and I passed a rugged-up youngish guy walking the other way who looked at me sideways and flashed a quick smile at me. I was so surprised and it was so cute. I looked back but he didn’t. Still, I thought that people here are so friendly. Every time I’ve gone to cross a road, the person driving had stopped to usher me to cross (well except that one car at Salamanca who tried to run me down) 😛
Apparently my landlord’s other property is the other side of this huge bay somewhere.
I’m guessing that water eventually leads out to the Tasman Sea and south to Antartica? No idea, I would assume so. I didn’t take my shoes off and test out how cold the water was. Common sense would tell me it wouldn’t be luke-warm 🙂
Oh God, look away look away! lol – front-facing camera – can def tell the difference.
What a terrible beanie – some queen needs to teach me fashion lol
Thank God I decided to get a shot with it ditched 😛
I think I prefer the darker one haha
Can’t really tell in this pic, but the bridge in the distance lights up bright orange. Pretty cool from my eye’s view anyway 🙂
Fuck it was getting cold now! I was blowing on my hands trying to take the pic
And now I’m back home in my comfy warm hotel, realising I need to be at the airport by 11am to pick up my hire car. No extending my stay again! Who knows where I’ll be tomorrow night.
I hear that phone reception is rare outside of Hobart, so you may or may not hear from me. Right now you’re probably thinking, ‘Oh thank fuck, not more boring photos!’ so to you I flip the bird 😛
Hobart’s 2 day stay has extended into 4, and I say goodbye tomorrow morning. And I say hello to the East Coast of Tasmania.
Fuck I hope I remember how to drive 😛
Absolutely beautiful pictures. 🙂

I find these pictures fascinating…..Tasmania is probably a place I will never get to. You’d love my town then, surrounded by hills and mountains, this morning I drove up a hill, through a cloud and down the other side to work.
