The scent of rain =)

When I left work this morning, the air was so unbelievably fresh.  You know when it first starts raining onto bitumen?  I believe that’s asphalt for the yanks out there?  Anyway – despite it being just after 5am and the ground not exactly being hot yet, the smell was amazing.  This was just a random shot I took near my bus station.  I was actually trying to get a shot of the sun shining through those clouds near the building, because it was beautiful, but I see it didn’t really show up in the photo – oh well, it was nice for me 🙂

I remember thinking ‘I wish they’d release a rain-scented frangrance.  That would be amazing, but then I guess I wouldn’t appreciate the amazing smell of nature.  Oh wait, I shouldn’t really say it like that because farting is nature as well, but obviously I mean the scent of the rain, especially after it hits the bitumen!  I was literally inhaling the air with my nose.  That section to the right of the buildings is where I walked through, and because it is the middle of Spring here, the flowers on the trees are blooming – so there was the amazing rain smell, mixed with the distinct smell of the flowers.  I really felt like I was in a freshly rained-on greenhouse or something.
So, a pretty easy shift and a beautiful start to my day.  My gym is directly to the right of where this shot was taken, but I didn’t go today as it’s an off-day – tomorrow I shall hit it hard.

I caught the bus home and watched my Cars 2 dvd.  The first cars is one of my favourite anime’s, as it reminds me of the roads around home near the farm and how the Southbrook and Gatton by-pass’s were built during my childhood.  I often like driving through the towns that the by-pass’s have help become ignored.  Millmerran even had a by-pass built, but it was only for the Inglewood traffic moreso and the power station.  The Goondawindi traffic still passes through the town, which is nice to see, although I haven’t been out there in forever now.  I didn’t mind Cars 2 but it still doesn’t beat the first one.

I’m now sitting on my bed, still awake, waiting for my groceries to arrive so I can put them away.  Exciting stuff right!?  I can’t well just go to sleep and let them leave them at the front door, especially my frozen chocolate barvarian 😛  I like to treat myself ok?  I set the delivery window between 9am and 12pm.  It’s currently 10:40am, and no sign yet.  I’m sure they’ll turn up within the hour.  Midday is about the latest I can go to sleep anyway, although sometimes I’ll tune into Ellen first and end up crashing at 1pm, unless I’m completely fucked like I was after that 14-hour shift on Saturday, in which case I’ll sleep the whole day.  I tell you what, I can’t wait for that paycheck next week!

i can’t believe I ordered over $200 of groceries.  I think that’s the first time I’ve gone over $200.  Just goes to show the price of living is skyrocketing, especially in Australia.  That’s food just for me!  How do people feed a family?? 🙂 

I got home from work today, as you know, and checked the mailbox.  Wow I live a thrilling life don’t I? 😛  In there was a letter (as there normally is) And I saw it’s from the Queensland Courts.  My first thought was ‘Oh fucking fantastic – jury duty.  My second thought before ripping open the envelope was ‘Oh shit someone’s trying to sue me’ – lol – luckily it was the first.  Although not luckily.  Apparently I’ve been randomly selected.  I always thought I did really well going 11 years on the electoral roll and not once yet being called for Jury Duty.  I guess my time has come!  I have been selected and I have to fill out a questionaire and send it back, claiming whether I can or can not do jury duty, although to say I can’t, I need written evidence as to why not. 

Now, I work 9pm til 5am.  If I am to do jury duty, that will be for two weeks, 9:15am until 5pm.  Not every day will necessarily be in court, but still, that means I either do it, and go to work on FUCK all sleep for two whole weeks, or I apply for an excuse saying that my work hours don’t fit in with what they are asking.  I mean, I may not even be selected for jury duty in the second round, but if I am, that means I have to go.  It’s compulsory.  And they only pay you like $30 a day haha.  The bit where it says I may have to stay overnight or weekends worries me!  Now I have to annoy work to get them to write me a written statement, and knowing how fucking lazy they are, that probably won’t happen.

So I’m getting quite a list of things to do happening in front of me.  Electricity bill, tax (which I’m yet to ring up and question whether I actually owe because I’m SURE I’ve already paid what they are asking, but let’s face it, this IS the Australian tax department we’re talking about here), my car (yes still not going – it hasn’t been a priority but then again it’s been sitting there for 10 months of wasted rego I haven’t even used), my health checkups which I really need to get done for peace of mind and now bloody jury duty!  And with how many hours I’ve been working lately, all I really wanna do it completely sweet fuck all!!  Please!  I don’t wanna think about responsibilities!  GAH!  One more night of work tonight then I finally get a break for two nights!  Yay!  Still annoyed about having to work my birthday, but then I just think back to previous years and I’ve usually always had to work it anyway, so it’s nothing unusual.
