Don’t fuck with me

Jesus Christ I hate shifts like that!  At least they remind me that the world is still real I suppose.  It’s good to throw in a whacked-up shift in amongst all the repetitive ones.  Last night was certainly one of those.  I had a drive off, an argument in the forecourt between two Black and White Cabbies (one of the QLD cab companies) and a dickhead flogging stuff from the store.

I dunno who the drive off was, I assume it was just a cabbie who forgot to pay, as it was LPG.  Not too concerned.  I’m normally pretty good taking note of everyone out there, but it was a typical busy Friday night shift.  Grrr, still, annoying.

Anyway, I served my cute cabbie.  He drives one of the Silver Service cabs and has an eyebrow ring.  I love it when he comes in because he’s a total perve-fest, for me anyway 😛  *lick*.  I know that sounds weird actually saying a cabbie is hot, but this one is, my god.  I can’t tell if he’s gay though, I don’t think so, but he’s just got the hottest face and arse ever.  He usually goes to the bathroom after I serve him and I find myself wanting to follow him in there lol.  Not for the purposes for what he’s going there for of course, ewww 🙂  But yeah, him coming in was probably the highlight of the night.  So much more of it was just a disaster lol.

When he emerged from the bathroom he said there was a fight going on outside.  I look outside and two black and white cabs are facing each other on pump 2.  Facing each other.  One was an Aussie, the other foreign, I think Indian I dunno I can’t tell where they are all from these days.  Anyway, I see one of them waving me to come out there.  I groaned, already annoyed that this was clearly a stupid fight without even knowing what it was about.  I go out there and they are YELLING at each other.  The Aussie guy apparently started it, and I’d believe it too.  He was being a complete racist pig to this Indian dude.  They had both tried to get to the pump first.  The sheer stupidity of arguments like this absolutely SHIT me, because there are four LPG gas pumps, and instead of one of them growing half a brain and going to use another pump, they stand there abusing each other for use of the pump they are already at.  The Aussie had come in from one direction, the Indian the other.  The Aussie was in the wrong, he came in from the exit so would have had to cross double lines on the major road outside the complex to even make it in.  But he was racist and had clearly had enough of Indian cab drivers, as they too are notorious for stirring shit and being completely rude, not to mention ripping customers off through the arse.  But this Indian was nice.  At least until the Aussie provoked him and started calling him every name under the sun.  Instead of backing off, he simply stood up for himself.  When I went out there, I said to them, ‘Look, you can easily sort out this problem easily if one of you simply moves.’  The Indian then told me to look at his car.  There was a huge scratch along the side of it.  The Aussie had picked up the LPG boswer and SCRAPED it alongside the Indian’s car door.  Not like I could do much about that!  It was then I decided the Aussie was a complete fuckhead.  I didn’t have time to stand there and argue with them.  I went back inside to serve the customers who had half a brain.

Part of me was temped just to not authorise the Aussie’s pump, but I did, and when he came in he had $15 worth.  All that for $15 of gas in a maxi taxi?  I was shaking my head inside.  He was a nice customer to me inside the store, didn’t even say anything.  I just said to him, ‘sorted it out?’ and he said, ‘yeah he moved.’  I saw it as the Indian having some maturity even though he was in the right.  Later on, after a few more customers, the Indian came in, still clearly pissed off about the situation.  Luckily one of the yellow cabbies witnessed the whole thing and gave him all his details and stuff.  He came in and asked if there were cameras outside.  I had to tell him no.  The best I could do was tell him that the other cabbie was on security camera when he came in to pay for his fuel.  He’s gunna have to go off his witness if he’s gunna report him.  I would too.  Anyway he paid for his stuff and off he went.

Fuck racism pisses me off.  I don’t see myself as racist, I have foreign friends and even fuck an Asian guy occasionally.  When I am racist, I’m always light-heartedly joking about it.  I’m never serious.  Culture actually amazes me, and I don’t get why people have to be so mean to people from other countries.  It’s if their personality is bad, that’s when I judge them, but based on looks and the country they came from?  Come on.  Racism is as bad as homophobia.  It’s who you are.  How can you be hated for who you are?  I guess that’s where it fits in with me.

Anyway, later on when I was changing the bins, I could hear a voice in the distance, as it’s early in the morning, around 3:30am and it’s quiet.  "We’re at the servo" I could hear a druggie’s voice say.  Great, just what i need.  I went inside in front of the security camera and locked the door.  It beeped when they stood near it, I let them in.  They walked up to the hot-box and the guy with dreads (three guys and a girl) said, ‘damn can’t steal anything’ (as the doors are on my side) and he said, ‘was just gunna take it without you noticing.’  A joke or not, I said ‘Nah you gotta pay for it man’.  Anyway, cut a long story short he went to the fridge, took a sandwhich and tucked it under his arm.  Pretty sure he also grabbed a packet of chips as well.  A cabbie was walking in so the door was held open by the sensor, when normally if I see someone flog something I’ll lock them inside, a pretty sure-fire way of making them put it back.  So he walked straight out the door, sandwhich and chips in tow.  His mates were still inside.  I knocked on the glass near me really hard and spoke into the loudspeaker, ‘You gunna pay for that?’  I sounded like one of those angry Asian store owners 😀  – "You pay now!" lol.
He kind of just turned around and laughed as though the whole thing was a joke, more startled by the noise of the loudspeaker outside than anything I think.  He THREW the sandwhich, still in its packaging, but I could see he still had chips between his arm and his backpack.  His mate came in with the sandwhich and asked where it went.  I showed him.  It didn’t seem to be damaged but I doubt anyone’d buy it – they get replaced every day anyway.  He had kept walking by then.  I served the girl, who was actually really nice and paid for her things.  The other two guys just seemed to stand around.  I didn’t notice them flog anything like the other guy clearly did, but who knows.

So they left and I was thinking to myself, ‘Sure it’s a sandwhich and a packet of chips, who cares really’, but then I thought, ‘you know what?  FUCK this’ and I rang Policelink, who put me through to a copper near me, who asked a few questions and then they sent out two cops to the store to review the footage.  I had already gone through it to find where they were on it, wasn’t too hard to find as it had just happened.  The cops took their time though, arriving about an hour after it happened.  The cops took my details down, the store, a detail of the main offender who was pretty definite with his tattoo on his leg, backpack, cap and long dreadlocks.  Good luck disguising yourself with that look, moron.  They asked for a burnt disk of the footage, but I didnt know how to do it or where the disks even were, and nor did the morning lady, who had arrived to start her shift by that stage.

I was so far behind in my day because of all the shit that had gone on during my shift.  I kind of felt stupid when the cop asked ‘So the value of the goods is around $10?’  Haha, I tried to up it by saying ‘Yeah or around $15’ (as he had more than one sandwhich I believe) but still, $10 who cares.  That wasn’t the point though.  I’ve let a guy walk out before with just a packet of chips which I just paid for myself, but the point is if the cunt is stealing small shit from here he’s gunna steal from elsewhere.  Let the cops nab him I say.  I’d never seen any of them before so I’m assuming they aren’t even from around here.  Of course my manager probably won’t be in until Monday to do the footage of the thief for the cops.  Not like I can help that.  I just also hope the cops do their job, but I also understand they probably have a million better things to do than look for a sandwhich and chip thief lol.

So I was well and truly over it by then, and i hadn’t done much.  Well I had, but all the load was still sitting there – I’d only put away the chips and confectionary and oils and small stuff.  i told the morning lady everything that had happened.  She couldn’t believe I’d had such a rough night and told me to write down that I’d stayed back, which I did (to give a statement to the cops).  I’m not used to calling cops so answering their questions seemed important, but inside I was thinking how trivial this really was.  The point is it’s justice to me.  I’m really not looking forward to tonight now, Saturday is usually worse drunks, and the Lions versus Suns AFL game is on at the GABBA, so it’s sure to be busy.  First all Queensland game.  I tell ya what, if anyone tries anything tonight they’ll be copping it from me.  I ain’t hasseling the cops again over that shit.  I’ll crash tackle them myself lol.

Don’t fuck with me.  I hope that guy, if he hasn’t already, gets a criminal record from this.

I hit gym pretty hard afterwards to release some anger.  I think it was healthy.

I was quite excited to see that one part of the Southbank beach has opened up again since the floods 😀  Wooo!

What a horrible night 🙁 I think it was good to contact the Police, if only for the sake of knowing that YOU were contributing to justice. It doesn’t matter that it was just $10 worth of stuff. It was the way it all made you FEEL. PS, I really hope I didn’t offend you with my question on the last entry 🙁 If I did, I totally didn’t mean to 🙁

Been there, done that. Don’t let the bull at work get to you. When you walk out that door at the end of your shift just leave it behind. Your life is better than theirs, I promise.

And I apologise right now if I did…

“I’m sooo not racist I f*ck an asian guy!* LoL.. Funniest part of the entry :^) Crazy people. Too bad you couldn’t trap them in the store. Then talk with them the rest of the night!

Wow. Pretty exciting night! I’d be a little scared to work an overnight shift like that. Does it ever worry you?

Sounds like an awful night. =( I hated the drunk when I worked overnights at the gas station. There was a bar in the shopping center right behind the station. So I feel ya. RYN: They don’t numb them at all. You gotta deal with the pain. Take it like a man. =)

WOW!!!! What a night. I think you did the right thing by calling the coppers. Theft is, more or less, theft. You could write stories about your job. Oh wait, you just did! 😉

April 2, 2011

Good on you for calling the cops! Idiots keep stealing shit because they get away with it when people don’t want to make a fuss over small items. I hate it.

Geez, sounds like you have to act like a school teacher to these damn cabbies. “Neither of you gets this pump. YOU move to THAT one, and YOU move to THAT one.” It’s pathetic, but some people just can’t be adults. You really are great at handling issues there. I would be scared shitless to deal with half this stuff.

1st~ Racism is as bad as homophobia I so agree Matt!! 2nd~ you did the right thing,$10 bucks this time next what? a stick up for real cash…Now the cops know.. 3rd~Wow the park looks great now!! 4th~Huggs sweetie Mermz
