Havianna Thong Challenge 2011 (pics)

Wow I didn’t think my last entry was that good, so thankyou for the notes guys!  You guys rock.  Yeah, I guess sexuality is a continuing thing.  I mean, geez, only finding out my lifelong crush is Bi after all this time?  Still kicking myself and confused about that, he mustn’t have wanted me to know for a reason.  I’m convinced I’m not the ‘Gay Matt he had a crush on’.  By God, could you imagine?  Besides, nowadays I’d have to knock the current girlfriend out, and she seems to treat him right so I can’t go and go all Jerry Springer on her, just yet 🙂

Anyway, the Havianna Thongs Challenge!  WOW!  I don’t think I’ve had a day that fun in a LONG time.  There were soooo many people there and it was lovely to go back to Mooloolaba again after so many years.  I think I was but a little kid, maybe between 5 and 9 years old the last time I was properly there.  My family always went on family holidays to neighbouring towns like Maroochydore or Kawana Waters, always skipping over the lovely little area of Mooloolaba.

The day couldn’t have been more perfect weatherwise.  Not a cloud in the bright blue sky.  It was hot but not overly hot, probably around the 30 degree mark, maybe 28 I dunno, it was hard to tell after having to stand on hot cement in bare-feet for so long~!  The line-up was starting to get long, but my friend Matt and I arrived pretty early, around 7am, when registrations openede.  The registration line was massive, but as we’d pre-booked online, we went through the express entry, and were the ONLY PEOPLE in that line haha, so straight to the front!  Yay!  So Matt was clever doing that!  We got our wristbands and then went upstairs to grab our huge inflatable Havianna thongs.  There were already heaps of people walking around with them when we got there, and quite a few playing in the ocean.  They work out quite well as boogie-boards!  So I found out later on 😀

So yeah, I managed to get a few photos but it was a bit hard to take my camera out on the water.  Wow, I so wish I could have!  Unfortunately mine isn’t water-proof haha.  I did see a chick out there balancing her camera on her thong (wow that sounded bad for the american readers :D), and I just remember thinking how awesome the photo opportunity’s would’ve been out on the actual water.

We had to all line up so they could count us as we went through and then everyone just went out on the water.  There seemed to be a huge group of people way out past the breakers, and once we battled through those, I could see there were a whole heap of ropes that people were holding onto.  There looked to be sooooo many people.  And my GOD, not to mention HOT GUYS!!!!  Jesus Christ I was having a FIELD DAY AND A HALF out there on the beach.  It always amazes me seeing guys who can’t be any older than like 18 who have the body of a God.  Of course, usually with a just-as skantily-dressed girl hanging off their arm lol, but a lot didn’t as well, just there with their mates.  Thank God Matt lent me a pair of his cheap sunnies, they are always helpful when tryna perve!  😀  And their tans – oh my god the tans.  To be a coastal-dweller for a while.  I am SO envious of the amazing glowing skin, and it’s not fake!  Glad Matt and I were wearing wetshirts!

I’d brought sunscreen, and had to apply it probably about 4 or 5 times during the day.  I did well, because at the moment as I write this, there is only a red stretch across the small of my back, where the wetshirt obviously didn’t stretch down enough haha.  Thank God I had it though, because we were in the sun for quite a long time by the end of the day!

So yeah I got a few photos at least.  Not all that great but oh well, here’s the ones I liked

Oh I guess I should’ve mentioned we went to Underwater World as well 😀  We had a few hours to kill after registration because the world record attempt wasn’t until midday-ish.  This real-life shark is actually frozen behind glass, and there are heated coils in the glass so that it doesn’t condense over.  The hammerhead shark is 4.4 meters long, but I only got a front-view of it.  It creeped the shit outta Matt.  I thought it was freakin awesome.  You can even smell it through the glass, I’ve never seen anything like it.

Here’s a few token pictures of sting-rays and such lol – there werent any signs saying I couldn’t use my camera, so out it came!

I just loved the pattern of the farest sting-ray.  It’s almost like they were cuddling.  Fish would swim past the burr and it’s like the ray didn’t even care.  Can’t believe I was so fascinated in the aquarium haha, I’m such a kid sometimes.

Haha, there’s me, playing with the Starfish.  I was amazed to find out they have no brain, yet they can feel touch and digest their food from the outside.  If they aren’t alive, I don’t see how that works!  Trust some to be sitting on my face when Matt took the photo lol.  These are just my photos, Matt has a few more on his Iphone I think.  I might add them to this entry later, not that anyone will probably see it 🙂

There’s me with Matt and mine’s thongs 🙂  You can see I’m a little too tall for my wetshirt, which is where I got sunburnt.  Everywhere else is fine though 🙂  Sucks this pic turned out blurry, but that’s my camera for ya 🙂  Still good for a 4mpxl 🙂

It was such a perfect day for the event!  I love Mooloolaba beach and I wish I’d gone there more often!  Once Matt and I found a spot to stash his stuff and our real Havianna thongs (which you apparently needed to participate in the event, but I already owned a pair), we got counted and headed down to the water.  The ground was so hot to stand on, and girls were handing out free flavoured PumpEd waters, which was cool.  We sell them at work for $4.80 each!  A lot of people were just pouring them on the cement to cool the ground down though, because the line was quite long.  The sand was so hot as well!  It was good where the water had cooled it down though, obviously.
The water was amazing.  No rips, no rough surf.  The waves were relatively big though!  It was fun trying to get out to the ropes and swimming between the thousand or so people already out there.  We found a spot on the rope though and I onlyy lost Matt a few times.  I think we were the only two wearing sunnies out on the ocean haha.  He said he didn’t care if I got mine wet as they were only a cheap pair.

Of course, there was this cute young guy who couldn’t get on his thong.  I had trouble as well!  Those things are hard to get on, especially in deep water, and even harder to STAY on.  People kept slipping off.  Once i got my balance on one though I was alright, after figureing out to climb on it sideways.  So I told this kid to climb on his sideways as well.  When I say kid he was probably like 16 or so, i dunno.  Of course, this resulted with a perfectly round arse in my face, and his boardies were wet and stuck to his arse as well.  Perfect bubble-butt, lucky kid!  Anyway, once I got the jailbait thought out of my head, I clung to my thng, the rope, and the siren sounded.

The siren signals the beginning of the world record attempt, and we had to hold hands with the person next to us.  One one side, I had Matt, the other some woman, probably early fourties.  She seemed nice.  The siren sounded a few more times and then we were told over the loudspeaker to return to shore.

This was the most fun part!  Catching a wave into shore on the thong!  It worked so well as well!  I caught a wave and rode it for ages!  Of course, at the end, I got completely dumped, water up my nose and everything haha, I am such a classy beach-tourist 😀

When I found Matt again we were walking along and Matt said ‘glasses’ and i felt my head.  They weren’t there.  Obviously.  Haha, no way they could’ve survived that dumping!  Oh well I’m sure they are still floating out there somewhere.  I felt bad I’d lost them!  I gues I completely forgot they were even on my head, or I don’t remember moving them from my eyes to there.  Oh well, Matt wasn’t too concerned.

Being Australia Day, there were a lot of people driving around with flags stuck to their cars.  You can see them hung from people’s balcony’s as well from the highrises.  So many people had them hanging out.  I think we really are a patriotic country.  I mean, I absolutely love living here.

We went to Hog’s Breath after that.  Such a nice view of the wharf from the Mooloolaba one, and I really like Hog’s Breath food as well!  I had the ribs and steak combo and a lemon lime and bitters.  Matt had the parmigana (or however you spell it lol).  It was yummy.

After that, we took our thongs back to the car.  Unfortunately we ran into a bit of trouble with Matt’s car because he owns a Volvo, it is SO security-conscious.  We could get into the car but we couldn’t open the boot to get to the spot he’d stored all the stuff.  And you can’t get to it unless the tailgate is opened.  It was impossible, we tried everything.  The people at the dealership had told him the wrong thing, and he was fuming about it.  It’s just as well I hadn’t stored my stuff in there with his!  Otherwise we’d have been extremely fucked.  I leant him my phone and he called the customer service line, which being on a public holiday, were utterly useless.  He was yelling into the phone at one stage things like ‘Do you KNOW how much this car is worth!?  I wanna speak to someone higher up!’ haha.  I really wasn’t perplexed.  I was having a great day.  So we couldn’t start his car without a part of the key that was detached in the compartment in the boot.  An RACQ guy arrived and tried everything to get it to open, even prying the boards of the boot from the inside, but to no avail.  It’s unreal, I’m always calling RACQ because my car is so shit.  He’s calling his Volvo care group, who send out an RACQ guy anyway, because his car is so secure.  My car, I have to manually unlock the doors for everyone!  That’s how old it is.  I can’t press a button and go ‘beep beep’ for it to open.  But that button wouldn’t work.  In the end, the only thing we could do, was sing his sister to drive all the way up from Brisbane to give Matt the spare set of keys.  Thankfully she did it, as I’ve known her over time to be a bit…well you know what I’m tryna say, like not-always co-operative with her brother.  But she was nice.  She was happy she got to listen to her Ipod on the drive up and back, and we went back to Hog’s Breath for a second time and shouted her dessert and coffee.  You wouldn’t think it, but Hog’s Breath had the BEST latte I think I’ve ever had in my life.  I also had the mud cake, but it tasted a bit alcoholic to me, so wasn’t overly amazing.  I think it was chocolate liquor sauce, but it did kill the richness of the cake a bit though, which worked well, I just woulda preferred the actual taste of the cake more.  Still, it was okay.

So yeah, thankfully we got the boot to open with the spare key.  Matt dropped me back off home, and as I’d been awake for 25 hours straight by that stage (because Matt picked me up when I finished work at 5am that morning), I pretty much had a shower and passed out on my bed.  I woke up at 6am this morning and spent a while trying to find my phone.  Thought I might’ve left it in Matt’s car, but thankfully I found it.  Of course there’s bitchy messages from Jeff saying the flies are back in the kitchen and that I’ve left a mess.  I wasn’t even fucking here!!!  I’m kinda glad I’m working the night of his farewell party here.  I don’t even wanna go to it haha.

I found some pretty cool photos that some hubby and wife photographers uploaded to the fanpage – thought I’d reshare em here!

So I’m guessing that Australia Day is like our Fourth of July. But we’ve got you beat! We have fireworks! Australia is such a beautiful country–I SO have to go there some day. But I need to make my jaunt right around this time of year. It’s bloody cold today! And is it wrong that I’m laughing at the fact that you had starfishes sitting on your face? I’ll bet that you’d prefer something

else pretty with no brain to be sitting on it instead! OK, that was probably a little much…I still love ya though Matty! You are awesome!

ryn – she was on the meds but for one reason or another she decided she didn’t need them. I don’t try to guess at her stupid thought processes. Luckily for me (maybe not so much for my friends), I have friends who can totally relate to the family dramas. It’s good in a way because we can chat to eachother and know that the other person understands. It’s hard for somebody with a normal family to understand why one would not want to talk to a family member. xxx

RYN: I’m staying away from relationships because I need to focus on my life atm. It just seems easier if there isn’t anybody occupying all my thoughts. That thong challenge would of be so much fun. I’m jealous! I got dragged to a basketball game for Australia day… I spent the entire time drinking and accidentally cheering for the wrong team.

No I wasn’t trying to hang myself. My camera won’t pick up sounds if I hold ir right side up so I had to hold it upside down and kind of down for it to pick up sounds. You can tell because in some parts the sound would start off low and then jump up and back down. That was a remix of Halo. I like it.

This song rocks. I like it up until where she starts to sing but even then it’s still good. I just wish it was the whole part where she’s not singing when it starts. Then it would really be an amazing song. A song I can get lost in. I do until she starts to sing. So can you Dubsetp dance and Tecknotonick? My gay guy friends can so is it like a gay guy thing? I can Dance Central dance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhMCa1_9FYg That’s the link to it. I wish I could tecknotonick and dubsetp. I’m no where near that good enough to do it. Just Dance Central on the 360.

“Of course, there was this cute young guy who couldn’t get on his thong.” This… needless to say made me giggle like a school girl. I usually don’t think thongs as foot coverings, as I rarely wear anything on my feet and haven’t for about 8 years. I go bare feet all the time, even in the snow. So I was like “thong… alright, he’s trying to put on thong undies in public (insert giggle)”<br> needless to say, it was an awesome mental picture 🙂 Love, Laura

You could have warned me about the fish pixs MEANIE!! You know I hate them lol

I’m all thinking” What parent would take a child to an event where everyone wears thongs? That’s maybe a bit of sexuality overload for a young kid.” And then I saw the pictures. And I suddenly remembered that Aussies call what Americans call “flip flops” thongs!!! Ah ha! What do ya’ll call the tiny underwear that’s like dental floss that goes between someone’s butt cheeks?
