The healing process begins

It’s all done!

Wow, if all cosmetic procedures are that easy, I can see why people are addicted to it!  I suppose you’d need to be rich though to full enjoy it, and also like watching your face feel off at the age of 30 🙂  A friend of mine actually recently just had a nose job done – he’s always going under the knife and he’s only early 20’s.  Mind you he does look like a porselain doll!
I went in there at my appointment time and pretty much didn’t have to wait long at all.  This really nice lady called me in and introduced herself as Ingrid (but pronounced exotic) and I commented on how nice her name was.  She said it was a long time since anyone said that.  I felt really comfortable around her and told her straight out I wanted 7 or 8 moles removed, but I wasn’t too concerned about the small 8th one.  She had a look at them, took photos, then asked if I wanted them done right away.  I said ‘yeah please!’ and she explained the procedure to me, how she used radio-frequency, a local anesthetic, and I’d smell a slight burning smell from the hot-wire.  Haha.  She was right, she went to work – the local was pretty much the only bit that stung a little bit as she applied it.  She started with my back, and got them out of the way.  I could smell my skin burning haha.  That must be what it’s like in a tattoo parlour!  I imagined it would be similar anyway.  She asked how I’d found the location and she asked if I studied and I said I was looking into it, but failed to get it last time I applied.  She asked what and I said I had an interest in meteorology, but would probably need to go to Melbourne to do that.  I said I’d grew up on a farm and asked if she knew where Millmerran was.  Of course, like most answers I get from Brisbane people, she had no clue lol.  It’s only about 250k’s away people!  I suppose there’s towns I haven’t heard of as well.  I said I got over the country lifestyle and wanted to try the city life, and that I loved it.  She then said her dad owned a scrapmetal business and she thought about taking it over, but it wasn’t really her field.  I said ‘wow that’s quite a difference between that and this.’  But I mean, shit, I can just imagine the money she must be reeling in doing cosmetic procedures lol.
So yes, she did the ones on my back, and applied dressing.  I have to leave them on for 7-10 days, but will probably leave them on for 10 just to be safe.  They are water-proof so I can shower, bath and swim with them on.  She then did the one on my upper right chest area – once again a burning smell which drifted up to my nose.  This time I could actually see it, and was amazed at it.  It’s a very light colour than the rest of my skin, but I knew that would happen.  When I remove the dressing, it’ll probably take a month or so to be a similar colour to the rest of the skin.  She was using a hot wire to basically shave down the mole, but she did it with both the raised ones and the flat ones.  The flat ones are trickier, but she didn’t even seem to need to raise them.  This one other place I got a quote for a few months ago said they’d need one session just to raise the flat moles, so it was good that she knew how to attack even those.  She noticed that one of the moles was a little weird on one side and I said that a few months ago when I had my skin checked, the guy injected something into one of the moles – I’d worn a bandage for like 4 days and nothing happened.  I’m still not even sure what the hell he did!  Either way, she just had to work off a bit of the side of it so that it wouldn’t leave any there.  I’m looking forward to seeing how they look when the wound dressings come off.
After she did my shoulder/chest area, I lifted up my shorts to let her have access to my upper thigh (oolala).  It was a weird feeling having a woman so close to my crotch area haha.  She did the big annoying one first, then the other two little ones.  I could see these ones really well.  After she was done and applied the dressing and whatever else, I could just see the yellowy leftover marks under the dressing.  Unreal that for the first time since I can remember, I have completely flat skin there.  I commented that it looks weird just not having them there anymore!  I’m going to look at my leg and wonder where the hell they went.  But for now, and for the next two weeks or so, I just have to not touch the dressings and only reapply them if they fall off.  She asked if I had someone who could help with the ones on my back, as they will be difficult to reapply myself.  I said I hadn’t thought of that lol.  Hopefully they will just stay on there.  She said the one further down my thigh would probably be the only one that may come off because of the hair.  And after that, it was all done!  7 moles removed all within an hour.  I felt so good I didn’t even care about the transaction going through.  It came to $1060, $60 for the consultation, $160 for the first four moles, and $120 for the other 3.  So yeah pretty much a grand exactly.  I’m trying to liken the procedure to ones of my past extravagant purchases, such as my car or my bed or my laptop so I don’t feel so bad 😀  The receptionist said I could take the receipt to Medicare and claim back the consultation, so that’s what I did.  Got $34.40 back, which is something I guess.  I hoped the transaction would go through as it was over a thousand dollars, but it did.  I know if I were still with Heritage that it wouldn’t have.  So glad I left them a fair while ago now, but that’s the bank my parents put me with when I was little.  I changed to ING years ago and had the two accounts going, but decided I would no longer need Heritage anymore.  Best thing I ever did I think.  ING has never charged me a fee in the 7 or so years I’ve been with them.  Note, this is not financial advice!  lol.
So yes I’m home now, not hurting one bit.  I think I can feel a slight sting every now and then but even that could be my imagination.  I don’t feel a thing otherwise.  In two weeks time, and moreso in a months time, hopefully I can look like a new man 🙂
I did have to snicker to myself at one point when the nurse opened the door and the doctor freaked out, but the nurse just put her hand in and dropped a form off.  She said that often she removes moles from gay men’s bottoms.  Oh that would suck to have one there!  But fair enough!  It was comforting to know I wasn’t the only vain guy in Brissy!  lol.
I asked her what causes moles and if they were just genetic, and she said they were, but she had identical twins in recently and they had moles all over different parts of their body – she couldn’t really make much sense of that, so who knows.  I guess identical twins aren’t exactly complete clones of one another.
It’s all done now.  I finally got it done and dusted after so long, and it feels so good.
Here comes the healing process 🙂

I need to get a mole removed too, haha, but its smack in the center of my back. One of these days I’ll go get a consultation and then removal. I’m just feeling kinda lazy about it. Though I’ve once had a dermatologist tell me that I do need to have it removed ASAP. One of these days… haha, I am such a procrastinator.

ryn – lol I don’t remember, I think he just leaned in and kissed me *shrug* it wasn’t exactly a treasured moment and it was about 10 years ago 😉 I didn’t even bother to remember his name or talk to him after we kissed, what a kiss ho I am! xxx

I hope you heal up ok! 🙂 xxx

I’m a wuss for any type of pain (or even things that look painful!) so I’d probably wimp out of that lol!

ryn: I wasn’t told it was cancerous, just…odd. And besides, I have a lump on my leg that I’d rather get checked out. It can only be really noticed when I flex my calves, and its underneath a freckle. *shrug* ryon: I so need a rejection number for this guy! He does the texting thing at least once, twice a week. He isn’t getting the point it seems =( I’m usually not mean, but he is annoying! =/

Ohhhhh I don’t know how I missed this entry, but damn. I think you should call the office and tell them how much pain you’re in! They should be able to give you some advice on what to do about the pain and what to do to speed up the healing. I am shocked that they let you remove all 7 at the same time because of the recovery process. I’d have just used those recovery days as excuses to stay home on the couch and watch some kind of marathon.
