Bills

My boss has given me today and tomorrow off work – apparently I’m owed days from Christmas.  I wasn’t gunna complain!!  So I’m home.

I had a call from the hospital, and I rang them back.  I’m rather concerned though because this is gunna cost me a shitload of money by the looks of it.  I’ve already paid the surgeons fee, but I have the anathesist fee and the theatre fees to go.  I got a quote and it looks like the theatre fees alone are going to cost me $1880.  I don’t understand how an opeartion on the end of my middle toe on my left foot can possibly cost so much.  How much do people who are having open heart surgery have to pay!?  Geez!

So I rang my parents to ask for their opinion.  I’m not expecting them to give me any loans or anything.

Omg my phone just rang.  I have had SO many phone calls from the hospital today – first it was some lady asking medical details, then it was alicia on the front desk asking for the deposit payment, THEN a nurse rang me to ask my medical history and just then the doctor who is doing to be assisting my surgeon in the morning just rang me to introduce himself.  You see, I don’t see this as anything genuine.  They are only ringing me because they know how much money they are going to be getting out of me, and a phone call means fuck all.  The call just then was from a mobile lol.  Oh the irony.

So yes, I left a message on my parents machine.  I was even thinking for a while I won’t go.  Andrew said I should go though because if I don’t it’ll always be on my mind, and it’s not gunna fix itself.  I won’t get the huge bill until after the surgery, but I wouldn’t have even been expecting it.  The first lady who rang me rang me back with a quote and when she did she asked ‘Are you sitting down?’ – I knew then it was gunna hurt.  I nearly fainted to the ground when she said it.

I guess I just have to hope they do payment options, as I’m happy to pay over a period of time, but I can’t possibly pay all in one go.  if that’s the case, dad said he could lend me the money, but I’d have to pay it back, and obviously I would do so.  I’ve never once not paid anyone back for anything in my life.  My god the bills just keep piling up don’t they – yay go me!

God that’s an insane cost!! Apart from non-emergency visits to my GP, I’ve never had to pay for hospital care. Scary stuff.
