And The Black Wind Howls With It

On a black night the white wind blows
Between the houses, row by row,
That keep us safe, below grey sky,
With hollow black crowds, they make us cry
Children scared of shadow, we do not know.

Thunder sounds, the shading is slow,
Rain falls, lightnings white shows us its glow,
Bright, powerful, oh! We awoke
On a black night.

We run to the streets, friend and foe!
To the blazing sky, weak arms we throw
To catch the Light, to God’s we spoke.
If not on rain, on color we’d choke
We’d not seen the sky play a show
On a black night.

Babysitter’s last retort

I wondered day and night
The price I’d pay to live this way
And death it’d seem was an easier fight
I wondered day and night
This life I’d lost, let out of my sight
It didn’t seem it could stay another day
I wondered day and night
The price I’d pay to live this way.

Redwoods and Knives

Her eyes the color of the ocean’s blue
Strung smooth, and long, like silk, too fine to spare
Bailey spoke of lands that no one else knew
Her lips moved without emotion or care.

I have met women from far and near
But no one came close to this woman of courage
No one came as close as this damsel in dispair
And I came no closer; our wall was our age.

I loved her like no other, with no end
Though with time, age became my downfall
And my emotions she did twist and bend
My oaken branches gnarl; I’ve grown too tall.

And to this day, I sit, and I think of her
And to this day, she compares to no other.
