Today is a good day.

Aaron is off on his first day of work at a new job.  It’s not trucking, but it pays more than I’m currently pulling in, and by a generous amount.  He’ll still be clearing more than I do after his child support comes off the top.  Fabulous news.  And the job just fell into his lap – my mom’s neighbor came over asking if my brother needed a job because the foreman where the neighbor works was looking for someone to start this morning.  My brother already has a job, so the guy came looking for Aaron. Serendipity is a fabulous thing.

It’s supposed to rain all week, which normally wouldn’t make me happy, but it’s been so darn HOT lately that I need some cooler temperatures or I’m going to melt into a puddle.  I hate summer.  Give me the 60-70 degree temps of autumn any day.  It’s been so hot around here that my central air unit hasn’t been able to keep up (it’s old), and so the inside temps have been hovering around 90 between 3 and 7.  It’s really hard to get motivated to clean when you can’t move without sweating.

There’s not much else going on right now.  Oh, except: Aaron and I are going to Pittsburgh in September for a concert.  I am SO excited!  He and I have never been away for a weekend, or had a vacation, or anything similar in the entire time we’ve been together (almost 7 years!), so I’m really looking forward to it.  We’ll only be gone one night, but that’s enough.  We’re going to drop the kids off at his mom’s, pick up a rental car and head up to Pittsburgh, check into a hotel, go out to dinner and then go to the club for the concert.  It’s 30 Seconds to Mars; I’ve seen them before, WAY back in 2003 when they opened up for Incubus in Charleston.  Their new album came out and Aaron and I both love it.  Plus, the tickets were only $25, so we just couldn’t pass it up.  I am a little worried about leaving Ben overnight, but most of that is my overprotective side coming out, because he typically does just fine with other caregivers as long as I’m not around.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of being a mostly-SAHM and getting things accomplished around the house.  I’ll still be working on weekends, just enough to get me out of the house for a bit, but not enough that I feel like I’m losing precious time with the babies.

Speaking of babies — have I mentioned lately how much I WANT one?  Oh my goodness, the baby fever is eating me alive.  It totally doesn’t help that customers keep coming into the store with their tiny newbies.  *sigh*  Logically, I know we aren’t having more kids, and we don’t really have room for another baby in this tiny house, but I really, really, really want one.

Well, it seems my cat has somehow climbed into the AC ductwork, so I’m going to have to cut this short so I can dig her out…

*EDIT —  Scratch that.  Another guy also brought someone in to work, someone who had experience.  Aaron was paid for a day’s work, and now we’re back where we started.  *sigh*
