Saturday Morning

My little 14 month old alarm clock woke me up at a quarter to seven this morning, which I didn’t mind at all.  I actually prefer to get up earlier most mornings, but I generally just sleep until Ben decides to get up which is normally between eight and nine.  So, it was a nice suprise to wake up nice and early this morning, especially because Aaron is gone for the day and I have lots to do before dropping the kids off at my mom’s and heading to work.  I always feel better when I get 6-7 hours of sleep as opposed to 8 or more.  It takes me longer to wake up and get moving the more sleep I’ve had.

I have to work 9+ hour shifts all weekend, which is pretty much a bummer, because there are plenty of things I’d rather be doing.  I have a bit of homework to finish tonight.  I did most of it last night because we’re having a work meeting on Sunday evening when I typically do my homework and I wanted to make sure I had it all wrapped up before then.  I only have two more weeks before finals and graduation, and I can’t WAIT to be done!  I’ve been plugging away at this two year degree since Chloe was nine months old – a year and half longer than necessary – and I’m so excited to NOT have to go to school anymore.  And to finally have some sort of degree, albeit eight years after leaving highschool.

I mentioned in my last entry that I’m making Chloe’s Easter/Ostara dress.  I’d actually bought a cute little pattern, but I despise cutting out pattern pieces, so I figured I would just use it as a guide/inspiration and make the pattern myself.  So far, that’s going okay, but it’s more of a "trial and error" process than I figured.  I did see a cuter, more casual dress on Etsy the other day that I think I may try to put together in the meantime because it looks quicker.

All of my fun new photography gear arrived earlier in the week, but I haven’t gotten a chance to play with it yet.  I hooked my strobe up to test it out, but that’s about it.  I’m holding off until I’m mostly finished with school work so I can drag all of my gear to my mom’s and try it out.  She has a huge den with a gorgeous wood floor that’ll look fabulous with the while backdrop.  I’m really happy with the quality of the everything so far, though it remains to be seen if I’ll still be satisfied after I get everything hooked up and going.

The sun is out this morning!  How great is that?!  We haven’t had real sunshine in weeks, it seems like, so I hope it stays nice and sunny for most of the day.  I also hope its on the sunny side for most of the next week so I can get outside and clean up the yard in preparation for putting in a garden.  Plus I need to clean out the van.

Anyway, two out of three kiddos are out of bed now.  Guess I should be heading to the kitchen to start breakfast!
