I scored the deal of deals on Black Friday: $800 worth of photography templates for $50 (holiday cards, birth announcements, collages, marketing stuff).  How awesome is that?!  It’s definitely awesome.  What’s not awesome is how long it’s taking me to download all of the templates.  Lol.  I’ve been at it for two days.

The kids are standing at the front door, noses pressed to the glass, watching the wind whip the trees around.  We’re at the very edge of that massive winter storm that’s pounding the midwest, and we’re still in the high pressure area, so we’re getting some mild-for-December temps with VERY high winds.  I’m expecting Dorothy and Toto to blow through here any minute now.

I just mailed a gallery password to a client, making me completely caught up on sessions for the rest of the month.  I’m SO happy about that, because these past couple of weeks have been insanely stressful for me.  I’m still behind on blog posts, but that’s okay. I can work on those intermittently over the holidays.  I’m just glad to not have any editing looming over my head right now when the next few weeks are already promising to be crazy busy.

Part of the reason I’ve been so stressed is that I had a very "particular" client a couple of weeks ago.  I took family photos of her family for their holiday cards, and she called me and e-mailed me a total of six times the first few days wanting to know if the photos were ready, even though I’d told her it would be a week at a minimum.  Well, because she was so anxious, I put her session ahead of the other, earlier, session I was working on, finished it up and had it to her within a week.  I was expecting SOME sort of feedback about the session, especially since she was so demanding.  So now, I’m kind of confused.  But, I guess no news is good news, right?   I’m sure if she hated the pictures, she’d complain, because she’s that type of person.

In not so good news, I just found out I’m most likely a carrier for Cystic Fybrosis.  My half sister is pregnant (which I also just found out) and had some tests done and they found out she is a carrier.  And my mom told me that my OTHER half sister (who actually lives with my bio-father) has cystic fybrosis.  So, good thing to know, not a good thing if I’m a carrier.  I need to do a little research on CF, as I know next to nothing about it, so I’ll be prepared just in case.

sorry you’re having client issues! grr. score on the template bargains. i wish we had black friday! xx

I am a carrier for CF, but there are so many genetic tests avaliable these days for it. You could pass cystic fibrosis along to your child, but do not have cystic fibrosis yourself. In order for it to happen, both genes have to have the mutation so they check both parents. If you are a carrier and your partner is not, then you won’t pass it on. It’s impossible. Hope that eases your mind.

I’m a graphic designer and I know that “particular clients” are always such a joy to work with. That’s a very good deal! That’s nearly 95% off!
