killing time
I’m at Panera (YUM) wasting time until my work meeting at 6:00. I had a family session this afternoon at 1:00, and there was no sense in wasting the gas and driving home and then driving back to town an hour later, so I stuck around. It sucks that I don’t really get to see the kids on my day off, but on the upside I’ve gotten a bit of work done while I’ve been here. Case in point – new blog post! I <3 free WiFi and plentiful laptop outlets.
My family session this morning was pretty challenging. It was at Pullman Square, which a beautiful location, but it was pretty busy. Between the bright sun, and then all of the cars and people moving through the square, I had to really plan my shots out. I would have liked to use the speedlight for some fill flash in the backlit shots, but I’m really just not comfortable or consistent with it yet. To start out, I’ve been using it on the Programmed Auto mode, which I’ve never shot in, and I’m not used to it yet.
One of the shots the mom and I planned, however, is going to be AWESOME if it pans out in post. She wanted some shots of her son in his karate gi (is that how that’s spelled?), so we did that, but then I sat the tripod up and we did some shots so that I can stitch them together and make it look like he’s fighting himself. I can’t wait to work on it.
Well, I think I’ve killed enough time at Panera. I think I’m going to head across the street to Borders to see if I can find a "Speedlight for Dummies" book. Lol.
I love Panera bread!
