Damn it, it’s still Friday June 7th to me!!!

So what if it’s after midnight, i haven’t gone to sleep yet so therefore it’s still the same day!

I didn’t feel like going into work on wednesday, but it wound up being better than i expected. I was still stuck up on 500, this time even further away in left center field, but there were actually a few people in the section behind me so that made it more fun, and the usher next to me “Philly Frank” is a really nice guy and chatting with him made the hour+ wait before the game started fly by. I was also right in front of the Wolf Pack — the groupies who gather in the 600 level at every game Randy Wolf pitches wearing werewolf masks and touting a huge cloth banner with the grouop name on it. Throughout the game they kept yelling “RANDY!….WOOOOOOOLF!” it was a little annoying at times but also amusing. The kids directly behind me were huge Pat Burrel fans. They yelled out to hime as the game started and he looked up and tipped his hat to them. What a nice guy! The phillies lost but at least this time they did it quickly so that was a plus.

Yesterday we got our new assignments. I’m back on 100 3rd base side and i couldn’t be happier. Sure it’ll be a pain to waitress but i really need the money. Espescially since they might go on strike in the beginning of august. That’s a good stretch of games I was counting on getting paid for that might be kaput, not to mention it’ll probably be the end of baseball cause the fans can only take so much from this more-commercialized-by-the-minute sport. I really hope they can avoid it. But anyway, it’s good to have gauranteed tips the next ten games. I”m even gonna work the BPS.

It was raining yesterday but they made us come in anyway. Bating practice was indoors this time, in a room right at the end of the 3rd base 100 level tunnel. In addition to the aramark workers and the phillies ushers, a guy walked down the tunnel to the opening to check on the rain. Jenn whispered excitedly to me if I knew who it was. “That was Marlin Anderson!” Then another guy came down the tunnel to inspect the stormy weather. Cool as a cuccuumber, one of the aramark girls shouts “yo, Pat, we havin’ a game tonight or what?” Wow! Pat Burrell, walking right past me. And there sitting on a stool in the batting cage room was Jimmy Rollins. Joe the security guard offered to let me stand with him to see Scott Rolen in person. I dragged Jenn with me too and we both giggled in junior high like anticipation. He was in the batting cage when we got there but then we saw him come out. I couldn’t say anything, just enjoyed gawking. I was standing there with the phillies, up-close! They look more normal than when they’re down on the field but still larger than life at the same time. Pat Burrell is 100% muscle. I still love Scotty but Pat is defintely my new crush. I also saw Doug Glanville waiting for his turn to bat and I think maybe Bobby Abreu. The Marlins were also waiting for their turn to bat and started chatting with us. It was really cool.

Then came the wonderful and suprising news cackling over our supervisor’s radio: the game was cancelled! Rainout! This was the first time in the 4 years I’ve wroked at the Vet that a game has been rained out. Yessss! Extra free time. HOlly gave me a ride home and I wound up just bumming around all night watching TV. I wanted to read or do something else producitve but I just kibnd of turned it on and then never turned it off. I did finally hook up my computer though in my room. (thanks Holly for reminding me to do it) I”m soooo getting a laptop before i go back to New York. I always forget what a pain in the ass it is to keep tkaing it apart an putting it back together again. No more! It’s so worth the money to buy a used laptop. “Dude, I’m gettin a Dell.”

Today was really chilly for June. Defintley not a pool day. So mom and I went to the movies and saw Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. It was funny and it also made me think about my own girlfriends. I don’t really have a group of them, rather several separate girls who are all connected through me: Vash, Holly, Meghan. With Vash and Holly espescially, I have separte “me and Vash” moments “me and Holly” moments and “all three of us” moments (Stop! In the Name of Love!) Not really and all for one one for all girlhood though. Not since 7th grade with me, Vash, Sarah and Ashley. The rest of my groups have guys in them. Like the pool gang. In college sophomore year it was me, Bethann, Maggie and Carol Ann. But I’ve never had a group of girls that all stayed together. Whatever.

I’m seeing my college friends on sunday and monday. It’s weird though, out of my four good college friends I’ve really only kept in touch with Bethann. It’s really strange Amanda and I have drifted. it’s so weird how you can be so close to people for a certain time and then just have it drift away. No big fight or anything, just circumstances and life experinces change. Why do some friendships do that and others don’t? It was the same thing in HS. I was exqually really close with Karen and Meghan. Meg and i have stayed close, Karen and I quickly drifted apart once we weren’t in school together. It’s just weird…

Anyway I’m almost out of characters and I’m really tired so I’m going to sleep.
