I’m Going to San Francisco!

I cna’t believe it, I actually booked the ticket, there’s no turning back now. This is probably one of the more crazy things I’ve done, runnign off to San Fran for a weekend in the middle of the school year. Ok, I guess most ppl would say “who the fuck cares! If that’s the most ‘dangerous’ thing you’re doing, you lead a really sheltered life.” But let me explain my crazy intinerary: I leave next thursday in the afternoon (blowing off my seminar on the different psych reasearch positions at New School, but hey, it’ll only be the second week of class and it’s a non-credit, no charge course) arrive in SF aroudn 5pm Pacific Time, stay til sunday night wher I’ll catch a red eye back east (11:30pm PST) arriving back to Newark at 10:45 am Monday Sept 17. I hten have class that monday night from 5:40-7:40pm and Rosh Hashannah services the very next morning.

Grand total in plane fare for this exercise in no sleep — $354!

Still it may be a little less crazy. See, apparently the school gives us off for the Jewish Holidays. Technically Rosh Hashannah starts at sunset that monday sept 17. And it kind of looks liek in the schedule of classes that evening classes are canceled. If that’s the case I can take the train home to Philly when I get back monday morning, sleep it off all day, then go to sevices at my home shul on tuesday and come back to New York on wednesday in time for my 3:30. Still hectic but much less so. Thing is I won’t find out til this ocming monday (the 10th, 3 days before i leave for SF) if class is canceled on the 17th. Here’s hoping though *crosses fingers*

I may have foudn a job too, which will help defray the cost. I still havne’t called about it, but it looks realy promising. Just saw it today at the schol bullietin board. Audio transcription of clinical interivews, $5+ per page! I already have experience trancribing clinical interivews by hand at the Baltimroe Child abuse Center, so typing shoudl be even easier. But the ad says “fast typists” and I’m really pretty slow by typing standards (40 wpm) and as anyone who reads my diary knows my spelling sucks. But that’s what spell chekcer is for and for $5 a page I coudl learn to type faster 🙂 And it’s even related to my fiield! I’m not sure if i could start ASAP though like it says in the ad cause I’m gonna be so busy traveling these next too weeks. But I”m certianly gonna give them a call. I wonder if it’s tax free income too hehehe.

I really need soem food to suck up the caffene! They had this special coupon for a 99cent small coffee and bagel combo at compus dinning, good til friday. I had to be in the buliding where the coupon is valid today anywya so I decided to go for it. Thing is, the small coffee was pretty freaken large (I’m guessing 16oz) and i haven’t really been drinking coffee regualrly in a while so it’s really affecting me. Gotta love taht coffee shake! Yeah, I”m gonna go find some food now cause I gotta stop shaking by 4. There’s a free intorduction to Hatha Yoga class right across the street (yay free!) I so miss my yoga. But I don’t thinkI can hold a pose in this state lol. So yeah, I’m off in search of caffene saoking food.
