Full Day Continued

It was twilight by the time we finally made ourselves stop singing. Each time it was “just one more,” too much fun to stop. But the setting sun brought a chill to the air and we finally decided to head home in search of food and warmth. Which turned out to be easier said than done. We got into the 59th st. downtown entrance only to find it blocked off. 1, 2 runs express downtown on the weekends between 72 and times square. I was vaguely aware of this before but since I rarely need to leave the village it doesn’t affect me and so I’d completely forgotten. This meant transfering to the uptown. Annoying, but not horrible. Rode it up to 72nd. Only there’s no way to transfer at 72 from the uptown side to the downtown side without exiting the station. So we got back on another uptown train to 79th. Same deal there but this time I remembered we each had fun cards for the day so it didn’t matter. Got out, crossed broadway, went back down and finally got ourselves a downtown train. It felt so good to be home.

We had pizza for dinner and then headed for the karoke bar. Rachel K wound up not coming. At first I didn’t feel like going but once I got out and got moving it was all good. We got there at 10pm but it turned out karoke didn’t start til 11pm. So we ordered drinks at the bar. I splurged and got a mudslide. It was really mixed well 🙂 I actually managed to nurse it this time too rather than just sucking it down real fast like I usually do (I’m not trying to get buzzed, it’s just that I purposely pick drinks that taste sweet where you can barely taste the alcohol and so it tastes good and feels like I”m just having a normal drink and then the next thing I know…) so that by the time we were done it was karoke time. The guy who ran the equipoment had a really great voice but he was also kind of arrogant.

We sang “Drops of Jupiter.” I really love that song cause it reminds me of this summer and carefree times and the girl in the song is who I’d like to be. We were actually better a capella in the park but it was still a lot of fun to rock out to the music with a real microphone. Equally as fun was hearing everyone else sing their selections. Some were really good, others were really funny, but they all picked great music to sing along to. It made me realize that i either 1) need to rent a karoke machien and have a karoke party for my birthday 2) need to get Vash and Holly fake ID’s so that they can go to the bar with me and do karoke, or 3) ask Holly or Malcolm if they know any bars w/karoke where Vash and HOlly could get in so I wouldn’t have to buy them fake ID’s 🙂

It was really funny too cause there was a bachelorette party there too and the bride to be was handcuffing herself to random guys and had to collect a certain number of men’s underwear tags. And one of her friends had this penis watergun and and squirted another random guy all over his face and shirt. Rachel went up to him and was like “you look like you’re having fun.” and he’s like “I just got squirted with an 8 inch dildo, I can only be having but so much fun!” It cracked me up.

The only bummer to the night was that Rachel wanted to leave early (around midnight) cause we had to get up early the next day. I could totally have closed down the place at 3am. Sigh. But I’ll go back. Defintiely.

After that we went home and I tried to go to sleep early (like by 2:30am ish) Got RAchel to the train station in time for her 11:30 train and then went to the gym. Then I came home and collapsed. I did have fun this weekend, but I’m NOT doing the whole sleepover thing again. She’s a morning person, I’m not. And she’s not a quiet morning person either. So then she gets me up early and then leaves early in the day and I spend the whole rest of the day out of whack. I took and extended nap yesterday and missed a lot of daylight (not that there was much cause of the rain) it sucked 🙁

It’s funny that the title of this is called “Full Day…” cause it actually starts friday evening and ends sunday morning. And it took me two days (off and on) to finish writing about it. I don’t know, it’s amusing to me.

So that’s the story. Things worked out pretty well though I still need to speak up more in this friendship to make sure my own needs are being met rather than just hers.
