Found a Subletter!!!
The guy who came by yesterday took the apt. Even gave me the 1st month’s rent in advance. I’m now $850 richer and it couldn’t come at a better time cause I’ve been scraping every penny together. Now I have a little breathing room. Of course most of it is just gonna go back to the school, money-sucking machine that it is. But
it’s still a huge releif. So anyway the guy is named Michael and he’s a law student at Georgetown working in NYC over the summer. It was really funny when my roomates and i were interviewing him he said he had one issue that might be a problem…he smokes marijuana! I cracked up laughing and told him he’d fit in just fine. I”m not thrilled about my room reeking of cannibus, but the whole apt does anyway and at least I don’t have to be there. And I’m taking all the stuff of value home with me for the summer. So I think it should work out great.
Today I went to lunch with my cousin Stuart. He’s at Fordham law and we both went to undergrad in Maryland but this is the first time we’ve met up outside a baseball game. It was a nice lunch and he’s a nice guy, but definitely different life experiences. Haves vs. have somes (I can’t really call myself a have not). He doesn’t flaunt it or anything, it just kinda becomes apparent when we’re talking about the future, where in the city we want to live etc. It was interesting. I’d defitnely be down to hang out with him again though.
After lunch I deposited my check (yay!), and went to the gym. Now I’m home. Caught Oprah and will soon be heading out to volunteer at the PETCO. It’s been a nice day. Productive yet not stressful. I gotta thank Vash again for the free advice. It’s so nice to not waste energy worrying about my work and just know I”m gonna get to it tonight when I’m at my own most productive.
My bubby and zayda are on a plane to Greece right now. Mom and I were gonna meet them at JFK and see them off but their layover wasn’t long enough. I hope they have a smooth safe flight and a wonderful trip. I’ll feel much better when they call me around 4am tonight (10am greek time) to tell me they got in safely. It’s an interesting role reversal; i guess this is what they (and all my other family and friends) went through when I went to Israel for 4 months. But I’m young! I’m supposed to be goign on adventures. They’re supposed to be relaxing on the beach in south florida. Actually I really do admire them. They created their wealth from nothing through hard work and are taking the time now to really enjoy the fruits of their labor. It’s a great example to follow. I hope I’m as active and vital and traveling when I’m in my 70’s.
Still I’ll be happier when they’re home…
Time for dinner!
