We lost our starry notions along the way…

The past and the future have plenty in common, and depending on your personality, you’re bound to have a penchant for either one or the other. If you’re "livin’ in the past," like a good number of people I know, there’s plenty to feel ashamed of. To persistently yearn for the past is sad, almost pathetic, and society is not afraid to tell you so…but where is the disdain for the vast majority of folks who persistently yearn for the future? Sure the past is long gone, and therefore doesn’t exist, but neither does the future…and I can’t find much logical backing to support so much wasted time planning and yearning, when nine times out of ten shit happens, plans change, and all that time spent dreaming about it ends up being for nothing. Yet society tolerates it– actually encourages it– and I’m left a bit bewildered, trying to do battle with a majority mindset that, to me, seems completely insane.

While I certainly don’t condone living in the past either, there is something interesting about it, that the future doesn’t have– actual, tangible remnants. We can speculate about the future all we want, but there’s nothing tangible out there to support any of our speculation… the past, however, leaves things behind. Real things, that we can touch, look at, and analyze. Memories turn slowly into dreams….and dreams, hopefully, will slowly turn into memories. I just don’t understand so much wasted effort on something that doesn’t exist, when there is plenty that does…

Neither the past, nor the future exist, therefore living in them are simply delusional insanity. Right now is all that exist, or will ever exist, wait isn’t that the future? Oh. Well.

RYN: As for the movie it looks interesting enough, but I’m not sure it’s *my* cup of tea. What is the title of the entry to which you wrote about it? Though I am thoroughly excited for the movie to which that girl will be playing in come March. The Hunger Games. The books were brilliant!

An unhappy person will be unhappy anywhere like someone who moves to a new place for a new start…they” eventually be unhappy there. I think the past / future is the same rather that accept what’s going on in the present and work with it people just ignore the present circumstances good or bad and live in the past or future or… just in cyberspace.
