Obama is LOST IN SPACE!
President Obama Has cut funding to and ENDED The US’s manned Space Programs. He has put a stop to exploration of outer space and progression of civilization and society.
Oh, wait, pardon me….he hasn’t TOTALLY stopped Manned Space Projects, Now we can simple OUTSOURCE them to other countries!
No, I’m not kidding. Here is a direct quote from Fox news "the forthcoming budget will include no funding for lunar landers, no moon bases, and no Constellation program at all. Instead, NASA will outsource space flight to other governments (such as the Russians) and private companies."
Part of the above mentioned "Constellation Program" was going to build new space shuttles to replace the old ones that have been requiring a lot of work.
To me, that makes sense.
America is in a recession. Jobs are limited, difficult to find. We have a near 10% unemployment rate.
NASA says: we need new Space Shuttles! Lets hire a whole FUCK LOAD of people to design, engineer, build, construct, test these new Shuttles! (Kinda like an auto company) Wow, Look at that! People would be hired, people would spend money, The economy would FLOURISH!!!
But NOOO!!!
Lets OUTSOURCE our space program! Lets send all our potential jobs OVER SEAS!!! (Just like we did to the auto companies!)
Obama is a real FREAKING idiot! Our nation has taken EXTRODINARY Pride in our space program since Neil Armstrong took his first giant leap for man kind on July 20, 1969. Now, Obama has set the wheels in motion to put us light years behind. Not JUST in science and space exploration, but also our economy, our moral, and our society on a whole.
This is an atrocity. This is a shame.
The only explanation I can come up for this, is that he simply can’t see the potential of outer space since he clearly can’t see past the end of his nose.

I’m less bothered by this. The money that goes towards the shuttle program would be much better spent on alternative energy. For the next little while, I do think most of the space exploration is going to be done on Earth.

Ultimately that’s the idea, from my understanding. The Ares and Constellation programs were horribly mismanaged, overbudget, and behind schedule, so they were cut. NASA itself is still well funded. We could get NASA on new projects, but that money is currently tied up in congress because they’d rather go home to campaign for re-election than actually pass the bill authorizing new funding.
Warning Comment
haha, i’m sure that a majority of the unemployed 10% is qualified to engineer, build, and test space shuttles. still, as a researcher who sucks from the teat of NIH funding, i have to lower my head in regret for anyone who loses funding for their for their projects that may or may not actually benefit mankind but are still really fun to do anyway.
Warning Comment
Really, I feel like Obama has been trying his best, but he can’t get anywhere with the current congress. Constitutionally, the president doesn’t make all the decisions; he enforces the directives of the congress. So if you really want someone to blame, blame the idiots in the senate and the house. Let’s vote them out in November!

Exactly Symplectic.

America’s been behind other countries for years now. Just take a look at our health care and education and look at other countries. We are “Home of the Free, Land of the Brave” and Home of the highest healthcare bills and most sick, and land of the stupid.
Warning Comment
I don’t think its a good idea to rely on other countries to get us into space. There are a lot of things we should continue to do on our own, I’m not opposed to cooperation, but we need to have our own programs as a viable option.
Warning Comment
Are you seriously getting in an uproar over this? I bet that you’d be just as pissed if he DID continue these hideously expensive programs at a time like this.
Warning Comment
I almost feel like supporting you here freedom now just cause the usual suspects haven’t. I just can’t. Of all the programs that need funding, the space programs are pretty far down my list of priorities.
Warning Comment
I don’t really have much opinion on this seeing as I know that the space program did have so much money where we havent even explored our oceans, focus on this planet before others…HOWEVER there have been many discoveries that help the rest of our society from places like NASA and they do create jobs, but that money can go into other things to create jobs. Oh and the recession ended a year ago

A few notes here have been somewhat dismissive of the space program, which probably isn’t fair. It’s resulted in a lot of huge developments over the years, and space exploration is certainly a worthy goal. So I wasn’t trying to put down the space program earlier. It’s simply that I’m not sure the shuttle program is the best way to accomplish space exploration at this moment.
Warning Comment
The big developments in it for the next while will be done on Earth. And the shuttle program is of limited utility in developing alternative energy. The shuttle program is a worthy one, just not right now.

Obama is not “a real FREAKING idiot”. He knows exactly what he is doing. This move will weaken the United States. That is his intent. It is his agenda to destroy this country.
Warning Comment
First I’d have to ‘believe that Neil Armstrong took a step on the moon. All evidence seems to state the fact that he didn’t. Just my opinion and I’m welcome to it. 😀

I’ve kind of got mixed feelings about the space program. Yes, it’s ‘neat’ that we’re finding all this stuff out but it’s kind of a seconded priority. We don’t NEED to know this stuff. It’s like getting an old vehicle that needs paint and a new motor. Which one is the more important issue that should be handled first? That’s the way our economy is right now. Space can wait. Handle up on
Warning Comment
other things first. You say that NASA will create jobs, this is true. Here’s my thing though, so will finding alternative sources of energy and this is something that is a NEED, not a want. Like paint on an old vehicle. We have several ways to get good, clean, RENEWABLE energy from mother earth and we choose not to because of the monopoly that power companies have.

Geothermal energy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geothermal_energy Wave energy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wave_Energy Solar energy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_energy I don’t know about other people, but going green and finding alternative energy sources far outweighs the need to go to space.

You are correct and to those who blame congress? It is a democrat house and sente, dem’s hold the MAJORITY in BOTH houses! Any Bill they wish to pass can be done so without a single republican vote. So if something fails to pass it must be horribly bad if the dem’s will not support it.
Warning Comment
RYN: Yes!!! A sense of humour!!! Politics is pretty fun, I like it too *hic grin* haha and yes I just find it hard to believe that something that big could get pulled off WITHOUT govt. involvement somehow, like if they’d catch me acidising their power lines they’d catch people planning on stealing planes and hitting skyscrapers with them!
Warning Comment
But yes I agree with everything you said on my entry, although I’m not so sure about the space program thing.. it’s very expensive and unviable; we will never live in space is my point, too much energy required but yes as you said the American people are VERY loving toward the space program, it has been such a big thing for such a big time I think it probably won’t help his popularity

Watcher: One piece of disagreement, but it’s a big one. Democrats have the most seats in the Senate, but that doesn’t mean they control it. The idiotic rules of the Senate mean that 60 votes is needed in order to do a damned thing, in order to defeat a filibuster. And the Republicans have abused the filibuster to ridiculous degrees.
Warning Comment
Democrats currently hold 57 seats, Republicans hold 41, and there are two independents. One of the independents in Bernie Sanders – he can be safely put in the Democrats side. So that gives 58 votes. That means that, even when Lieberman’s on board with them – and that’s not guaranteed on pretty much any issue any more – they still need to get at least one Republican vote to do anything.
Warning Comment
And the Republicans have been very united in opposing virtually everything the Democrats have tried to do. So no, a bill doesn’t need to be bad for it to fail. It just requires that no Republicans break away. And re-election concerns pretty much ensure that won’t happen.
Warning Comment
Spoo has it right on target. Good that someone sees what is really intentionally happening.
Warning Comment
Thank you so much for your kind note.

Outsource space programs? No … it’s redistribution of space technologies, because we have been trying to bring imperialism to space, and we must be stopped. Instead, have someone bring the space programs to the muslim countries. Maybe they can finally get missile technology right and bomb the shit out of us, giving Obama a nice BIG SMILE of gratitude.
