Rennington Scarecrow Festival 2012

It’s been a week or so and I’m not particularly enthusiastic about writing at the moment with so much on, but here’s some photo’s of the annual Scarecrow festival at Rennington. We’ve only missed one of these since Dan and I have been together, it’s kind of become a bit of a tradition to go. It was funny going back this year and seeing Cassie interact with it all and remember just how little she was this time last year, when we took her to her first scarecrow festival!

For once we got a really nice family photo:

I’ve noticed that we have a tendency as a family to dress similarly, for example, we’ll all go out wearing stripes without realising.

Cassie was so funny, these photos are actually towards the end of the afternoon. We saw other Mr Men dotted around the village first and she started chanting "I find Mr Tickle! Where Mr Tickle gone? Mr Tickle hiding! Mummy! Find Tickle!" and was racing around each scarecrow, absolutely set on finding Mr Tickle. I started getting a little worried there wasn’t going to be a Mr Tickle and she’d be disappointed!

A lot of it was Olympics themed this year.

What is so great about the scarecrow festival is that it is just a random small village in rural Northumberland that does it. It is normal people that spend their time making the scarecrows and everyone gets involved. What community spirit there must be!

They really gonto huge amounts of effort don’t they? Wow, look at the difference between Cassie last year & this year! xz

Great pics 🙂 I love Cassie’s expression at the Boris one, lol. My aunt’s village did something similar last year, the scarecrows were judged and a prize won (I can’t remember what it was), although some horrible teenagers went round and ruined half of them! xxxx

They are some crazy scarecrows! I like the canoeing one 🙂 And I can’t get over the difference in Cassie in one year! She rocks that Next dress (yet another one we also own, we both clearly have awesome taste in clothes for our little chicas!) xxx
