Wayward child

I have to work this Saturday so no garage sales for me this weekend.  I may be alone in thinking this way but I get annoyed at people quite often. And I don’t mean when someone makes a mistake or if they have good intentions.

Last week I was driving, about to make a right turn. I was pretty much at a stop, looking around to see if there were any oncoming vehicles or pedestrians. Then in my side mirror I see a guy riding a pedal bike on the wrong side of the road also about to make a turn and completely oblivious. If I hadn’t yielded I would have definitely clipped him. I was going to put my window down and tell him he was on the wrong side of the road. Then I had a cruel though. Darwinism (survival of the fittest) will catch up to him. So I kept quiet.

All of the annoyances, periods that are painful and last too long. When people ask me to do things so I can’t complete work that is more important. People who blather on and talk too loudly. My Neighbours across the hall have managed to keep the noise down a bit after 11:30. I think there are three of them in a 1 bedroom apartment. But my bird yells when he gets up at 5:30 AM  (I get him to quiet down asap though. So I can be annoying as well, even though that isn’t me yelling.

is he being serious or is it all a big joke? Even though I am grouchy so often I do try to do something nice every day. Usually I don’t write about those little things unless it blows up in my face. Like the time I gave the guy who looked like Shaggy (from Scoobie Doo) money for Mcdonalds apple pie and he ended up being a jerk.

So after work today I went to pick up gum, lysol wipes and a Lean Cuisine. There had just been a robbery that happened around 4:30 today. I was at the store around 4:45. So there was a cop talking to the employees about what happened. I just hear the cop say "It happened at 4:30 so there was a time lapse." Then he asked if anyone saw it happen. This has nothing to do with me being nice. Just something I witchessed as I bought my items. The lady in front of me had a bunch of six pack bottles of coke and was buying scratch offs. So I rubbernecked listening to the cop and store employees as I waited.

I left the store and was walking back to my place. I saw a youngish Dad with his toddler who looked unhappy. I got closer and all of a sudden this small child runs right toward me and I say "sorry" even though he is the one who was in my way. He darts to the left and stops. I look to see where his Mom or Dad is. Then I see Dad with the other kid, who had been distracted because he had been putting the toddler in his car sear. Finally the Dad looks around and yells for the wayward child who was walking fast, to return. Instead the kid starts sprinting as far as his little legs can take him. As Dad runs after him I say "I will watch the other little one." Dad runs after the other child who was on his way to crossing the street. It is a outdoor mall and No vehicles were coming, but still very hazzardous.

And I wasn’t sure who the running child was with at first, which is why I didn’t attempt to coax him into stopping. And I wouldn’t want to pick him up physically or anything like that, unless his life had been in danger. So I stood in front of the car waving at the toddler and waving at him. He didn’t look too impressed. After a few minutes the Dad returned. And he didn’t say thank you to me or anything else. But I would rather trust my gut andstay with a child than just walk away and do nothing.

I dont know why so many people are rude to strangers. Does it make their day better to ruin someone else’s?

He didn’t thank you?! 🙁
