where was the body?

Yesterday I bought a few things from the store after work. Lightbulbs, dishcloths, bananas, a lime, a frozen entree for lunch. That errand really doesn’t deserve mention. Just a prelude to the following sighting.

I take the items out of the car and went up to the back door of my apartment. I noticed a head, on the stoop. To be more specific a pigeon head with the body nowhere to be seen. And the remains of the neck a raw red bloody stump. It was disturbing but other than not being very pleasant, didn’t horrify me. If an animal or bird of prey had attacked the pigeon wouldn’t the creature chew on the head as well? Which leads to the possibility that a human may have somehow captured the pigeon and cut the head off for some bizzare reason.

Last weekend at the apartment building directly across from mine I noticed what what probably dog shit, but the size of human feces. That was another sight that I would have rather not seen. I would rather see that than a decapitated head though. When I left for work this morning I notice the head was on the ground right by the stoop. I don’t know if anyone will dispose of it, or leave the remains for a creature to dispose of. I don’t like picking up dead animals because I don’t know if they had a disease or not.

Until the head is gone I think I will use the front door. Spring just isn’t happening here. I woke up to a layer of snow on my car with a layer of ice under that. Seriously where is spring? Last year it was warm here by March.
